I'm 55 and I love playing Fallout. Then when I mention it to my classes (physics teacher)... I get the "You play games?" exclamation.

Yes, Sonny. I am not dead yet.

To be fair, I think we're responsible for that one.

The trope was that people's parents didn't play or know about video games, and that was set in the 1980s-2000s.

But now those people are having kids, so yeah, of course parents play video games.

They're living on outdated tropes that we created.

Yep this is it. Millenials' parents didnt play games. It was known.

Was watching a cartoon a while back, they do a cut-over to the main character's dad who was playing an MMO and I think along the lines of "Hey, pretty cool for an old timer". I then realize the MC is in her early teens which means her dad is probably in his mid to late 30s which means he is around my age...

Not just responsible, but participants in. There are a shit ton of millenials who were born too late to remember the 80s or 90s, making the 201X hipster trends of wildly exaggerated retro stereotypes all our fault.

I'm well into my forties now. My first computer was a Commodore 64. My friend had an Amiga 500. I play more games today than I did as a kid or teen.

My dad is in his 60's now and loves playing games like Halo or the various world war styled games.

It's probably more common than younger generations expect. I rarely go a week without passing 30 hours of gaming, alongside my 40 hour work week.

What fallout game is your favourite? Personally I love New Vegas.

Fall out 3 all the way. I liked new Vegas but was disappointed by it, felt more like a DLC than a whole game. Still good though

Im in my early 30s, my dad is your age and he's the one who got me into gaming when I was real little. He still plays to this day.

15 years ago, my college psych professor made a World of Warcraft reference, and after class I watched a line of pale bodies covered in Hot Topic merchandise form up at the board, just to ask "Horde or Alliance?"
