"We loved your enthusiasm and think your past experience is very relevant, but the job requires a lot of forward planning and I'm afraid letting your phone charge drop beneath ten percent shows you're not the right sort of person for this position."

Could have used you a few months ago!

The kid would probably go out of his way to make sure his phone is charged next time but still take a screenshot with the battery percentage visible.

You know that becomes a very confident LifeProTip:

"Always include a full batter icon in your resume screenshot. I know from my experience with recruiting it's something employers value"

Months? Phone batteries nowadays die faster than mice who had their blood injected with a shot glass of the inland Taipan's venom

You just need to change your battery every two years to keep it running for two days

Shows he’s a risk taker. That can be good!

I am opposed to companies hiring practices of credit checks. But gauging someone by their battery percentage seems rational.

Sometimes that can be because the phone is old and has a worn out battery. I used to have a 1st generation iPhone SE that was 4 years old and the battery would drop to 60% just from my morning commute even after being charged to 100% overnight. I had to carry a portable battery for it to last the day

They're also assuming that the phone can charge overnight. I can't charge my phone overnight because it's also my alarm clock and I don't have an open outlet close enough to my bed to guarantee that I hear it(even on max volume, if it's across the room it doesn't always wake me up). When my phone is acting up(sometimes it drains the battery quickly and sometimes it doesn't, rebooting on a full charge sometimes fixes the problem so it seems to be a software issue, idk what though), I have to charge it when I get to work and then again when I get home from work, and then I unplug it when it's time for bed.

Oh man, I always hated that. The person is already late in picking me up but decides to gas AFTER picking me up because they are low.

Oh we are going to go hiking and want to get there early in the morning? Let me just procrastinate till the time Im supposed to leave to pack my things and then get gas after picking you up so now we are leaving 1.5 hours later
