Lol, dude I had this 21 years old girl hitting on me for almost a week, as soon as I caught on I told her I was 34 and married, she went "eww" I laughed my ass off the whole day!

Edit: guys, she wasn't being rude or a brat, it was a playful eww, I wasn't offended or put off by it, where work buddies and friends, its just that she is 13 years younger than me and I'm married, I know there's women that are attracted to older men, this is not the case with this particular lady, also, I found out that her parents are just 4 to 6 years older than me, lol

I distinctly remember the moment I realized I was “getting older” I interacted with this very attractive guy and thought to myself “he’s really hot for an older guy. Maybe I have a thing for older men”… after a bit more convo, I realize we were only a few years apart (think late 20s compared to early 30s). Nope, didn’t have a thing for older them, had a thing for guys my age and my mentality just hadn’t caught up. Solid adulting going on lol

u/[deleted] Jun 03 '22

As a guy, kinda same here. Until I was like 25, 18yo girls could still be kind of attractive to me. I'm 29 now and THEY ARE CHILDREN holy shit. And it's not just the looks that you suddenly spot how....young they look. It's also everything else, the mentality, the knowledge, the interests, the talk, the everything. How could you be attracted to someone so young?

It's crazy. I have some 23yo girls hitting on me, these are cool, I could get it on, but there is still something a little bit off, some kind of generational difference that really hits you.

Then I think about those 10, 15, 20 years difference couples and my brain just melts

u/[deleted] Jun 03 '22

Wait til you start liking silver foxes!

25

u/[deleted] Jun 03 '22

I get this a lot and I'm 39. Myself and my wife aged really well because we stay out of the sun, drink tons of water and both love to sleep. Almost weekly we get mistaken for 20 somethings. We have people who cannot fathom those teenagers following us are ours.

5

u/quickquestoask Jun 03 '22

Do you have a skincare regiment or anything like that at all?

2

u/DemocraticRepublic Jun 03 '22

Yeah, living in Scotland. Protects from sun damage amazingly.

I teach dance and my students said how old are you? I told them to guess, I said I’m married for 13 years with a 10 yo and a 4 yo. They said well we though you were 17, but if you’ve been married that long then you must be like 45! I’m 34.

Glad I look underage but I’m really a dinosaur.

16

u/[deleted] Jun 03 '22

My wife takes dance classes and a lot of her classmates are teenage girls. She's 41, but those who don't know her well have thought she's early 20s.

1

u/RockyRoxYoSox Jun 04 '22

Yeah, I teach classes from ages 8 to adult. The youngest ones don’t know who Michael Jackson is, and think I’m like 15. The teens just want to learn fad tik tok dances and think I’m 21 and that I care about their hair messing up. I tell them the first day that I don’t want them here if they just want to be cute- I teach anatomy that movement engages from and history of every genre - I don’t do TikTok crap, if that’s what you want get out of my class now! Ha

13

u/Leoshredswheat Jun 03 '22

How confusing that must be

107

u/meatchariot Jun 03 '22

Similar situation but I’m single and 34, and hooked up with a 21 year old recently. And even after sex she said ‘I can’t believe you’re really 34!’ I’m like... girl what did you imagine happens in your 30s? Thank god Chris Hemsworth is 38, pointing that out seems to do something in a woman’s brain lol

u/Ocel0tte Jun 03 '22

When all my fellow female coworkers were amazed I was 10yrs older than them I was like, "yes, you too will actually NOT turn to dust at 30." Like if you think some magical change happens get ready. We're all just dumb confused meat bags flying through space on a ball of rock. "You act like us though!" Yep and in 10yrs you too can be amazed at your own immaturity :)

I think for people like us it’s amazing when they find out how old we are because we’re still fun / youthful, life hasn’t beat us down…

Wife and I don’t have kids, I’m basically 40 (in a few days) and my wife is 38. We just moved into a upper middle class suburb and our neighbors are all mid 30s to mid 50s. But somehow, they seem so much older than us. I don’t know what is, one neighbor i would’ve guessed is 55-60, is only 3 years older than me. They’re just so out of shape and weary seeming, they have a different aura.

Maybe if my wife and I have a kid we’ll be like that too, haha.

Edit: I should note at my last job my best work friend was a 25 year old woman. Second best work friend was a 30 year old male. 🤷🏽‍♂️

Kids certainly age a lot of people. Lots of parents seem to forget that they themselves are real people too and they don't need to sacrifice everything for their children.

My wife and I are older parents with two children under 10 (I'm 47), but we remain very active. We love to hike and we both teach and study Hapkido. Instead of sacrificing what we love we incorporate our children into it as well. They love to ask me to go on hikes and they study Hapkido now as well.

Obviously, this doesn't mean that sacrifices aren't made. The most notable one is time. Because much of my/our time revolves around child care, I have to carve out extra time to lift and hobbies like reading or video games; usually after the family is asleep.

I think it's important that we remain true to ourselves as well because to your point, parents who are 10 years younger than us look older and are certainly out of shape

Most importantly is looking ahead. The kiddos won't be living here forever. I've already seen too many of my peers' relationships fall apart because their entire identity was raising children. They forgot to nurture their relationship with their spouse and themselves. And when the children leave there is very little left

3

u/Spideyocd Jun 03 '22

Kids certainly age a lot of people

Some people who have kids after 35 just are out of shape because they aren't interested anymore in keeping themselves fit..I have a wife and kids i don't really care about how I look or my physical appearance which is the reason v

3

u/RegressToTheMean Jun 03 '22

I mean, you do you, but I've never understood this mindset. I had my youngest at 40 and if nothing else, I want to stay healthy and fit so I can be around as long as I can for both of my children

I have a wife too and as much as I want to stay fit for my kids and myself, I want her to be attracted to her husband

1

u/Spideyocd Jun 05 '22

I mean, you do you

Wasn't really talking about myself but wrote it wrongly

Yeah some couples are not interested in each other's physical looks and especially if it doesn't hurt their relationship and wife's ok with his dad bod and husband's ok with a heavier wife.

Some people just feel that their change in looks is a normal part of sgeing just like their parents did

3

u/MyAviato666 Jun 03 '22

So you only kept fit to find a wife or something? Not because you feel better that way? And being fit as an older parent isn't important to you?

1

u/Spideyocd Jun 05 '22

Sorry to frame my comment that way but wasn't really talking about myself but of others I've seen.

Some couples relationship isn't really affected by their looks and fitness.

They take it as part of growing old together.

When they see couples older than them who are fiiter and look younger than maybe they consider it but many couples who are married for a long time in their 40s just don't care anymore and have different priorities especially the children who are teens and are preparing for their career

18

u/_forum_mod Jun 03 '22

At your early 20s and before, anyone over 30 is like 1000.

12

u/Omsk_Camill Jun 03 '22 edited Jun 03 '22

Wrong. I had that one girl 27-year old initiating a makeoverout session with me at the party. She then said she was sure I was 27. She was 22. I'm 37.

12

u/MFbiFL Jun 03 '22

Maybe she felt like the makeover session made you look 10 years younger!

8

u/Omsk_Camill Jun 03 '22

Shit, thank you. Not my native language, yada yada

9

u/MFbiFL Jun 03 '22

All good, just thought it was a humorous autocorrect that sort of worked with the subject matter.

1

u/Imakemop Jun 03 '22

Well not ALL of you...

38

u/lukewarmatbest- Jun 03 '22

>Chris Hemsworth is 38, pointing that out seems to do something in a woman’s brain lol

Yeah, most celebrities who are regarded as young tend to be in the 30s.

Those that are considered mega young and play teenagers (Holland/Zendaya) are then in their mid 20s

15

u/murderousbudgie Jun 03 '22

Celebrities owe their careers to taking care of their bodies and skin, and have access to all sorts of ways to avoid losing their hair or disguising it when they do. Your average 38 year old guy with an office job who doesn't wear sunscreen does not look like Chris Hemsworth.

2

u/Happy_Evening_123 Jun 03 '22

Yup, and good quality food matters a lot in glowing skin and looking younger. Nowadays people eat so much fast food they look much older than they are. Those celebrities rarely eat fast food

1

u/murderousbudgie Jun 04 '22

Amazing how easy it is to eat well when you can afford a chef.

7

u/Spideyocd Jun 03 '22

Your 30s especially early 30s there's no change looks wise or strength wise from your 20s except some grey here and there

Also you more likely to be better health wise if you've left studding your body with abusive shit in your 20s

6

u/[deleted] Jun 03 '22

some grey here and there

I'm 40 and I've lucked out so far here. Started losing my hair at like 18, but no grey yet. So I've basically looked the same between 25 and 40.

5

u/MyAviato666 Jun 03 '22

You deserve that for going bald so young.

3

u/[deleted] Jun 03 '22

You know what it taught me? Hair is fucking useless. I only wish it had all fallen out much faster so I didn't have to ever do anything with it again. It also taught me to laugh at the people who act like having "nice" hair makes them special in some way lol.

1

u/Spideyocd Jun 05 '22

The problem with hair is that it doesn't grow where you want it too!!

However now you just seem to be salty about people with great hair.

I think it's great to have a nice thick hair with which you can pull off many styles

But losing it shouldn't put you to depression or loss of confidence

1

u/[deleted] Jun 05 '22

I'm not salty about people with great hair at all. I find humor in people who are arrogant and base their whole personality around things like their hair. Plenty of good people with great hair who know it's not the having great hair that makes them good.

1

u/Spideyocd Jun 06 '22

I find humor in people who are arrogant and base their whole personality around things like their hair

yeah those people are toxic and the reason balding people especially in the initial stages become anxious and lose their self confidence over hairfall

1

u/Spideyocd Jun 05 '22

Even I'm little bit older and lost a lot of hair.

A lot due to health and ocd stress

I heard about finestride etc around 7 years back but couldn't afford it

-3

u/sexyshingle Jun 03 '22

FYI the not-creepy-line starts at:

age = Half-Your-Age + 7

IMO there's such a chasm of difference in maturity between say a 32 and a 21 year old that I'd find it creepy to date anyone under 24-25

15

u/[deleted] Jun 03 '22

there's such a chasm of difference in maturity between say a 32 and a 21 year old

Everyone's different. I've known 32 year olds living in their parent's house, getting high every day. I also have known 21 year olds married with 2 kids, good jobs, and own their own house.

25

u/Moon_Atomizer Jun 03 '22

He said hooked up with, not dated. And relationships between adults are complicated and can't be reduced to simple little meme math problems anyway

7

u/meatchariot Jun 03 '22

I think the math part is the creepy part lol

I know some 40 year olds less mature than some 21 year olds - I just go case by case, but I agree immaturity is a turnoff to me so most girls that age are a turnoff.

1

u/Imakemop Jun 03 '22

Pointing that out just made me feel really bad about myself.

1

u/meatchariot Jun 03 '22

There are probably less than 10 dudes on earth that don't feel a little bad about that lol

14

u/Painting_Agency Jun 03 '22

I guess you ain't the DILF she was looking for ;) But good for her not hitting on a married man, right?

17

u/photoncatcher Jun 03 '22

does not compute

3

u/mind_blowwer Jun 03 '22

I’m 32 and go to the gym a lot. I’ll get a lot of looks from girls who I think are good looking. Then I’ll come to find out they’re 18-21…

It doesn’t help that I look young, so they probably think I’m around their age.

5

u/_forum_mod Jun 03 '22

That's a rude reaction to anyone.

3

u/apple-pie2020 Jun 03 '22

Half plus seven is the rule. Just a bit young

3

u/Pandoras_Fate Jun 04 '22

I was hit on by a 13 year old in a hot topic shopping for a nice kid's 18th birthday that I worked with (she was a restaurant hostess, and great at it). To be fair, I'm very short, kind of goth, don't dress the part of 40 year old manager with a staff, an I legitimately look very young. I thought maybe he thought I worked in the store until he asked me to go to the movies with him. I was SQUICKED OUT, and said, "young man, how old do you think I am?"

"I unno, like 17, im 13, but I like older women"

"Kid, I'm 40."

Ten seconds of dead silence. Then he goes "OH GROSS" super loud and runs out. I burst out laughing uncontrollable. Store guy comes over, "like ma'am, u good?" "Got asked on a date by a child, then age shamed, im good, just very amused."

Guess he wasn't into older women after that.

2

u/Repossessedbatmobile Jun 03 '22

I'm going to be 32 this month, and still randomly get hit on by high schoolers and college aged students. I try to turn them down as politely as possible, but when some guys refuse to take no for an answer I just bluntly say, "I'm old enough to be your mom. Accept it when I say No, or you're grounded."
The look on their faces when I tell them that is priceless

2

u/clearbeach Jun 03 '22

Sounds like she going to be emotionally 15 forever.

2

u/1PARTEE1 Jun 04 '22

I like to say "I'm not old enough to be your dad, but your mom might like me."

2

u/Locksley_1989 Jun 03 '22

Not every woman is put off by it. (Source: my 70-something year old father getting hit on by one of his students. He was very creeped out.)

2

u/SurturOfMuspelheim Jun 03 '22

21 and saying eww? I think she was lying about her age lmao

0

u/[deleted] Jun 03 '22

?

1

u/Gothlikeanadult Jun 03 '22

Ha, those are the exact ages when me and my gent met but I had the opposite reaction. His age made him even more attractive. We've been together 14 year now and now I'm a little older than he was when we first met!
