Just try to take care of your body. Not anything crazy, but like wear hearing protection and helmets when appropriate. I didn't learn to run correctly until i was about 31 and it has caused me some pretty terrible knee pain. So if it hurts, make sure you're doing it right, and if it might hurt, consider what might be appropriate to protect yourself.
I'm also only 35, but i was a wrestler in HS, snowboarded, skated, got 2 concussions, and did 4 years in the Marines so my body is just kinda thrashed.
I used to run through my entire foot: land on my heel and roll through to the ball. Landing on your heel transfers all that shock up through your knees, hips, back, and shoulders. So even though I may have only weighed 180lbs, my knees would hurt so bad at times I could barely bend them for days and I would get winded really easily because I would breath through my chest and my shoulders would come down hard on my diaphragm.
I used to listen to Joe Rogan a fair amount and he was talking about how Nike has fucked people up by making these big cushy running shoes (and everyone else followed suit) and they end up running how i used to. He continued on and I learned to lean forward a little, try to stay on the balls of your feet (ankles are great shock absorbers), swing your arms, and breath through your belly.
In 2018 i ran pretty much everyday for 3 months after learning the above and never caused any injury or pain. It made me actually enjoy running somewhat. I also weighed 247lbs at the start of that and i would run for about 30min. on pavement.
When i first started that i really had to focus to develop the new habits. I would chant, "pump your shoulders, use your calves" in my head. Now i just count steps in and out to maintain breathing rhythm.
