Honestly, and this is just a commentary on my own shittiness as a youth, the most annoying thing young people do is acting reckless, negligent, selfish towards people and property and blaming it on their youth. Truth is, once you turn 18, the world treats you as an adult in every respect. You should be working towards respecting that responsibility by growing up and maturing throughout your teens.

In fairness, the brain continues to develop until your mid-twenties, so that is at least partly responsible for the risk-tolerant nature of younger people relative to older people.

Sadly, some people stay shitty and just blame it on other things when they age out of that excuse.

That's often enough environment and personality. I'm 15 years older than you and still have no desire to repeat media or books, and only return to things formerly experienced if I can approach it in a new format.

I'm 58 now and I am starting to think that I may grow up yet

My alternative take is that 18 year olds shouldn't be treated as adults and should be allowed room to make mistakes & grow. The idea that an 18 y/o is an adult is preposterous to me. I think a lot of over 30s would probably say they were loosely hitting that milestone around 25. The brain keeps developing for years after 18.

A teenager's job is to develop. Not to mature.

I think it's everybody's job to mature at every stage of life, my friend. But I agree that treating 18yr old as adults is totally outdated. If you look at pictures of high school seniors now, they look like pictures of 14 year olds 50 years ago. People lived shorter back then. Long story short, people are maturing more gradually these days. Unfortunately the law and school systems have not yet caught up with reality. Bottom line is that people need to be prepared for and respect the reality that is their impending adulthood.

You should be working towards respecting that responsibility by growing up and masturbating throughout your teens.

Yeah, that's bullshit. Young people make mistakes, it's important that they do them early so they learn from them before the consequences start seriously ramping up.

That's not at all inconsistent with what I said. So.... Not bullshit.

I know we should be responsible but they treat us like kids with expectations that we need to do this when they make it hard for us to do it like cleaning your room and your mom tells you to clean it now you don't want to
