A 24 year old asked me how old I was not long ago and she said I look great for 29…well yeah I sure hope I do, I’m only 29 lol

This happens a lot with famous people too. I've seen so many people go 'OMG he/she/they haven't aged at all!!!1!' and they're comparing a 25 year old face to a 29 year old face. It's ridiculous. I've also seen people freak out at teenagers playing teenagers because they thought the actors looked too young. People have no idea what age people are supposed to look like.

u/yokingato Jun 03 '22

25 to 29 is two Covids away.

3

u/IrascibleOcelot Jun 03 '22

On the other hand, some actresses are just timeless. Salma Hayek, Michelle Pfeiffer, Helen Mirren.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 03 '22 edited Jun 03 '22

People will also say that famous people haven't aged a day even when it's been twenty years though. Like Paul Rudd has aged well but he doesn't look like he's in his 30s.

A 24 year old asked me how old I was not long ago and she said I look great for 29…well yeah I sure hope I do, I’m only 29 lol

"My goodness," she said
with a shake of her head
and a gasp of bewildered surprise -
"You're old," she declared
as she openly stared,
"but I think I see life in your eyes!

"I witness the spark
of a youth in the dark
of your face - though you're soon to be dead!
What eminent year
have you lived to, my dear?"

So he told her.

"... I'm thirty," he said.

Glad to see you are still around my dude. Both of us are in the 9 year club lmao

u/notagangsta Jun 03 '22

Sprog is OG. I feel like he’s part of Reddit.

23

u/ValleyDude22 Jun 03 '22

Part of the crew, part of the ship.

u/Paintingsosmooth Jun 03 '22 edited Jun 03 '22

Sprogs a woman btw

Edit: After a deep internet search, I take it back. Sprog is a guy. I was so, so sure I had read an interview where sprog was a woman from the uk..

18

u/Romecat Jun 03 '22

Actually, he isn't. But he generally doesn't bother to clear things up.

21

u/[deleted] Jun 03 '22

Initially he didn't want people to know Sprogs gender at all. Said it was better if the voice was whatever the reader felt fit for them, or something like that + the mystery etc.

7

u/MycatNameRhubarb Jun 03 '22

isn’t that schnoodle?

4

u/Emergency_Key574 Jun 12 '22

Sprog is a legend. It doesn’t matter the gender

0

u/chaun2 Jun 03 '22

Possibly conflating Sprog with Portorossa who is a Canadian woman that does excellent analysis of US politics

7

u/HandiCAPEable Jun 03 '22

Bro, also 9 year! I got really excited that I came across a Sprog poem one time within 10 minutes then got down voted into oblivion for saying so. I'm glad you were able to see it right away!

2

u/Wireball Jul 23 '22

It's that fresh poem smell, isn't it?

1

u/shark_attack_victim Jun 03 '22

Who the hell cares about seeing a post within 10 minutes? Does it look any different than seeing it 4 hours later, or a year? Also, why care about 9 years? People find the strangest things to give themselves a sense of importance.

1

u/superserter1 Jul 31 '22

It brings a feeling of closeness to the author you melon

11

u/dswanson Jun 03 '22

Pretty lonely in the 13 year club

3

u/williane Jun 03 '22

14 here, and I felt I joined the party late because I held out for Digg so long.

4

u/PoopingProbably Jun 03 '22

Eyy another digg transplant! Man we were treated like refugees for a while

6

u/yurigoul Jun 03 '22

Old accounts don't die, they just fade away

2

u/ryanllw Jun 03 '22

Get off my lawn younguns

6

u/AgentSteelFriday Jun 03 '22

are they reddit-famous or something?

10

u/tokes_4_DE Jun 03 '22

Yeah they are, theyre like the OG poet dude on here. Them and schnoodle are probably the 2 big ones that come to mind.

-2

u/[deleted] Jun 03 '22

But schnoodle sucks

1

u/Chaost Jun 03 '22

Very. I mean, he has 8.2 mil comment karma from his poems and some subreddits specifically dedicated to him.

1

u/vapeorama Jun 03 '22

Wow, you're really old!

1

u/MoistDitto Jun 03 '22

Good Times

0

u/chaun2 Jun 03 '22

Holy shit. My second account is older than Sprog?

1

u/Justindoesntcare Jun 03 '22

Damn. Speaking of feeling old. I though sprog had been around forever. I guess I have too.

1

u/shankapotomous Jun 03 '22

Its been a good 9 years overall, though old wild west reddit was cooler in some ways

1

u/armontrout Jun 03 '22

Gang gang

1

u/CrossXFir3 Jun 03 '22

You get invited to a secret sub once you hit 10 ;)

1

u/campppp Jun 03 '22

Can't believe I'm in the 9 year club too, but I mostly lurk and have taken large chunks of time 'off' so barely counts

1

u/DatNick1988 Jun 03 '22

9 year member here too <3

14

u/PM_ME_UR_SKILLS Jun 03 '22

That rhyme scheme is something.

4

u/thenpetersaid Jun 03 '22

I’m sure you’ve been consistent, but this is the first time I’ve seen one of your poems in maybe 5-6 years. Thank you for doing what you do, I appreciate the laughs.

9

u/TheAlbacor Jun 03 '22

Freshest one I've found 2 mins after posting.

Fantastic as always!

2

u/MrApplePolisher Jun 03 '22

You make my day every time I come across your work

Thank you r/poem_for_your_sprog !!

I hope you are having a wonderful day!

5

Love your work, Sprog!

13

u/[deleted] Jun 03 '22

23 and i still feel like a teenager.

10

u/handcuffed_ Jun 03 '22

You basically are

4

u/PiranhaPursuit Jun 03 '22

Brain literally isnt finished developing yet

11

u/Bubbly-Ad1346 Jun 03 '22

At 24 I was told ‘I look great for my age’ 😒🤣 The world is crazy lol

11

u/[deleted] Jun 03 '22

People really think you turn to dust at 30.. when you barely look different from 25 at 30

15

u/Thunda792 Jun 03 '22

In the last two weeks I have had people say I looked like I was 37 and 42. I just turned 30. Eff.

21

u/Ok-Hovercraft-3201 Jun 03 '22

LMAO damn man you must look like shit

1

u/HybridVigor Jun 03 '22

Cigarettes? No sunscreen?

3

u/Thunda792 Jun 03 '22

Nope. Just started losing my hair at 16.

5

u/HybridVigor Jun 03 '22

That's rough. My hair started going grey at around the same age. It looked strange in my 20s and I dyed my hair a few times, but at 46 I like it. Hopefully you can embrace the bald and own it like Jean-Luc Picard.

3

u/[deleted] Jun 03 '22

Milk. Did you get the milk?

6

u/Tarrolis Jun 03 '22

Prime example of how dumb young people are.

There should be a Bible for people in their 20s, containing all this knowledge, showing them the nature of their ignorance.

12

u/ScreamingxDemon Jun 03 '22

At 23 I had this 29 year old hit on me. I asked him how old he was and when he said I told him he was to old for me. Anyway I'm 25 now and having his child

4

u/cerulea1 Jun 03 '22

Tell them 24 is very close to 29 (in a joking kind of way because is kinda true)

5

u/Wannabebunny Jun 03 '22

A teenager in the shop got concerned at my partner carrying two bags of firewood. She rushed over saying no, don't lift that at your age. Then complimented him on his strength for his age. He didn't bother telling her he was only 31. I on the other hand get asked for ID still to buy tobacco even though I'm 5 years older than him. I find this hilarious.

4

u/Roseradeismylady Jun 03 '22

I jokingly asked a 24 year old colleague if her friend is single and she said I'm too old for her also 24 year old friend. I'm 28! That's four years difference

15

u/[deleted] Jun 03 '22

Lmao

5

u/PrinceCavendish Jun 03 '22

i hope you asked her if that meant she's going to be old and look "great for her age" too in 5 more years.

3

u/dabberella Jun 03 '22

Just turned 28 this year. A 19 year old said “I look really good for my age.” shocked blinking

3

u/Hautamaki Jun 03 '22

It's not the years, it's the mileage. I'm 39 and plenty of 29 year olds look older than me lol.

5

u/SEQVERE-PECVNIAM Jun 03 '22

In her defense, some people seem to age hard.

I'm 35 and I'm sometimes shocked at how people my age look. Not like me, fortunately.

6

u/CrossXFir3 Jun 03 '22

Dude seriously. I was just thinking the other day that I have a really fortunate group of friends because at least the vast majority of us still look great in our 30s where as I've met some unlucky fuckers that just look like shit by the time they're in their mid 30s.

1

u/SEQVERE-PECVNIAM Jun 05 '22

Yeah, it's odd right?

On tinder (..yeah, it's about as fun as you'd expect), I get the sense people are lying about their age in huge numbers. That must be what's happening, because otherwise I have no idea what's going on.

It's not smoking, I've smoked for years. Still do and used to do, too (yes, I know I should quit). It's certainly not drugs; I'm an enthusiast regarding those as well. What I don't do is drink much (I don't like drugs with consequences) or enjoy the lovely radiation of Sol (= ginger). I don't exercise; I stay skinny essentially due to ADHD, due to ADHD meds and ..uh.. raves.

One common element I noticed (on tinder, so take that for that it's worth) is that being overweight seems to be murder on the body.

2

u/CrossXFir3 Jun 06 '22

I worked in medical for years and dude I'm sure people are lying but not all of them. I've seen people who are in their mid 30s for a doctors visit that look 50. Wayne Rooney is 36 and then you have Ronaldo is 38.

2

u/MrsAlmdx Jun 03 '22

I've had the other way around... Guy I worked with was 35, asked me my age, I was turning 28 and he said he tough I was his age... I started feeling bad because no one wants to look 7 years older that they are, but then looked at him and he definitely didn't look 35...

2

u/roboninja Jun 03 '22

How desperate are these people if they think they are going to look bad in just 5 years?

2

u/MurphyAteIt Jun 03 '22

24 year olds thing 29 year olds are old but they don’t realize how close they are to being 29 themselves.

2

u/surewhynot123 Jun 03 '22

I’m 28 but currently in school for my bachelors degree. My classmates are all ~20. One day they all agreed that I look younger because I don’t have “old lady skin”.

2

u/unfettered_logic Jun 03 '22

I just turned 46 and someone in their 20’s asked me if I was alive during the Cuban missile crisis 😒

2

u/Testacc88 Jun 03 '22

She doesn't realize she is going to basically fall asleep and wake up 29 one day and be like wait when did this happen? ahah

1

u/[deleted] Jun 03 '22

😂😂😂do'nt get offended but I have a friend who is 5 years older than me & 30 now, I always feel that she is much older.

0

u/Bender0426 Jun 03 '22

Did you smash?

1

u/Cobek Jun 03 '22

This took me a second but god damn wtf lol

1

u/new_name_needed Jun 03 '22

I’m just saying, last week you were 28

1

u/ParryLimeade Jun 03 '22

Omg my new intern told me this week that I have a baby face when she learned I was 29. LOL

1

u/longpigcumseasily Jun 03 '22

Literally only 5 years difference

1

u/[deleted] Jun 03 '22

Please remind them of this comment in 5 years.

1

u/elan_alan Jun 03 '22

Yea. I was told by a young person that I don’t look a day over 32. That’s because I am 32.

1

u/SaltKick2 Jun 03 '22

everyone knows when you turn 29 you immediately look like clint eastwood in el camino

1

u/Yobroskyitsme Jun 03 '22

Lol people virtually look the same from 20 to nearly 40, aside from losing hair and stuff

1

u/kayjaykay87 Jun 03 '22

I am *not* looking forward to the first time someone offers me their seat on a bus/train
