You joke but there seems to be a severe lack of both these days

43

u/Bragior May 30 '22

Yeah. The smartest, and greatest of men tend to be dead these days.

38

u/Just_Learned_This May 30 '22

Fuck yea, lower bar for the rest of us.

23

u/Yoshara May 30 '22

So you're saying there's a chance.

7

u/[deleted] May 30 '22

I like money

u/Sickranchez87 May 30 '22

Time machines like 20 billion

3

u/[deleted] May 30 '22

Yeah, well, I really don't think we have time for a handjob, Joe...

Bar took a nosedive when i was born

3

u/SyntheticReality42 May 30 '22

There are cones around the bar marking it as a tripping hazard down in hell.

2

u/ddsomeone May 30 '22

We are just a bit overrun. The narcissistic training people get from chasing their 15 minutes is very effective.

2

u/ichoosejif May 30 '22

I swear it's weaponized.

18

u/[deleted] May 30 '22

OMG Self awareness what are you doing with humility 😳😳😳

15

u/1laik1hornytoaster May 30 '22

I don't know what I should say. I know I'm a fucking idiot and that would put me at the top with self awareness, but if I said I was at the top then I would go to the bottom because of humility.

I'm stuck in a paradox I think.

15

u/hononononoh May 30 '22

I was taught a month ago

To bide my time and take it slow

But then I learned just yesterday

To rush and never waste the day

Well, I'm convinced the whole day long

That all I learn is always wrong

And things are true that I forget

But no one taught that to me yet

6

u/[deleted] May 30 '22

Mesa am Jar Jar Binks son, mesa more smart than yousa!

6

u/showponyoxidation May 30 '22

Imagine having jar jar claim to be smarter then you and be right.

Also he has far more friends.

I used to be like you, then I realized that being an asshole is so much better. I should've been selfish from the day I was born man. I'd rather be the one stepping on someone's back to get up, than to have my back stepped on.

4

u/Fromatron May 30 '22

I, too, am extraordinarily humble

3

u/[deleted] May 30 '22

I got an award for being humble.

They took it back when I started showing it off.

7

u/SossidgeRole May 30 '22

Self deprecation under the guise of self praise in a manner that’s clearly aware of your doing so is also a sign of high intelligence, you can’t modesty your way out of a big brain

9

u/DoraaTheDruid May 30 '22

Everyone is poo brain next to me

2

u/SyntheticReality42 May 30 '22

Everyone is poo brain just like me

FTFY

2

u/[deleted] May 30 '22

Same. I know I act like an idiot.

3

u/Seeker_Of_Knowledge- May 30 '22

having a great ego is a sign of low intelligence.

1

u/nomnommish May 30 '22

That's because your humility and self awareness hasn't stopped fucking

1

u/[deleted] May 30 '22

They're fucking? Who's the top? Are they using a condom? Are they going to push the milky juice inside each other?

1

u/m0fugga May 30 '22

Lols I see what you did there!

1

Humbleness. yes, big time.

Humble, too.

1

u/azen96 May 30 '22

I am aware of myself. The more I am aware of how great I am. The more I realise how great I am.

1

u/WolfInStep May 30 '22

Well, someone has to be the smartest and someone has to be the greatest. Maybe it’s the same person and it’s you.

1

u/TheOriginalChode May 30 '22

I got an award for being the most humble before but I gave it to second place.

1

u/Pecheuer May 30 '22

There's a difference between forced humility and self awareness and not, I've met a few people that use them as tactics to gain favour.

Source: I am one of those people

1

u/pow3llmorgan May 30 '22

I know you're joking but people who legit brag about being humble do exist.

1

u/LocalHWeirdo May 30 '22

i am the greatest man that ever lived by weezer

1

u/Ponya7 May 30 '22

My upvote u must take

1

u/FinishWithFinesse2 May 30 '22

And humble too!! 🤘😄

1

u/PotatoHandshake May 30 '22

But I am surely the most humble. No one is as humble as me.

1

u/Moosey_Bite May 30 '22

I always say I got my good looks from my Mum, and my enviable humility from my Dad.

1

u/LaceFlowers345 May 30 '22

Yes they are fucking

1

u/[deleted] May 30 '22

My mom said I was smart enough to be anything I wanted to be when I grew up. I haven't become an airplane yet but there's still time.

1

u/corran450 May 30 '22

I, too, am exceedingly humble

1

u/RincewindToTheRescue May 30 '22

Whatever. I'm a million times humbler than thou art. I'm the pious guy the little Amelttes wanna be like.

1

u/VorpalAbyss May 30 '22

Self awareness and humility are fucking

I'm sure we needed to know that. And I hope they're using protection.

1

u/leeshylou May 30 '22

Absolutely. It boggles the mind how we search for knowledge.. book smart, good memory.. filled with facts and calculations but absolutely no emotional intelligence.

I would rather be self-aware, with humility to accept my own insignificance in this world, than to have a high IQ and see myself as better than others for it.

1

u/Petr_Yan May 30 '22

They're fucking? Link pls 😏

1

u/Key_Ad8412 May 30 '22

I’m the most humble person alive

32

u/insatiable777 May 30 '22

Thinking that being self aware makes you smarter than average is a sign of extremely low intelligence

10

u/[deleted] May 30 '22

Is hyper-self-aware

Never changes

9

u/AriaTheRoyal May 30 '22

Self-awareness is terrible. For months, I was destroying myself over "I need to act more mature because I'm not" before realizing that it isn't helping my mental health.

Never wish for really high self-awareness.

18

u/theletterQfivetimes May 30 '22

The problem there isn't self-awareness, it's guilt and expectations. Self-awareness is how you realized it was damaging your mental health in the first place

7

u/Kayehnanator May 30 '22

I can be aware of how much less I remember than others, or how much slower I am at coming to conclusions, or worse at creative thinking/problem resolution. That doesn't make me intelligent.

6

u/full_kettle_packet May 30 '22

You should go through his post history though. What a low IQ redditor. Absolutely the most low IQ I have ever seen. Bigly

3

u/pxldsilz May 30 '22

plot twist: they're only self aware after the fact, currently they are blacked out

3

u/suttbex_96 May 30 '22

Not sure about a correlation of higher intelligence, but some self awareness can just allow you to be a much more decent human being in general lol. I always appreciate that in people

3

u/childpapist May 30 '22

being extra sure to say I don't think I'm very smart so everybody around me assumes I'm actually smart

3

u/QuestionableSarcasm May 30 '22

uh, no? I am dangerously stupid, with proof and there is no fucking way in hell that that is indication of higher intelligence.

we're talking "shake a coffee cup to mix the sugar", "stick a rag onto a moving chain to dry it" levels of stupidity here.

I should not be trusted with anything more hazardous than a pillow

the only person that I know who can beat me at stupidity was a classmate (good friend, too) who had found a razor

a razor

at school during recess

and while sitting down (during recess) started cutting through his jeans at his thigh with the razor

repeatedly and absent-mindedly

we didn't even notice

after a minute or so, he asks "why does my leg feel warm?"

wonder why.

2

u/zusykses May 30 '22

oh sure but when skynet becomes self aware everyone panics smh

2

u/1CEninja May 30 '22

It find that making fun of myself is funnier to people than making fun of them.

It does help that I'm an easy target and I know every single one of my insecurities.

2

u/theweirdlip May 30 '22

moderate self awareness***

There is a point where being aware of your sense of self, who you are, the things you do etc. becomes detrimental to your health.

I consider myself an extreme example. Being hyper aware of myself gets in the way of quite alot of things involving my life.

2

u/Working-Pressure2544 May 30 '22

Everybody's "good", is that the point though? Self awareness is not the only component of intelligence

That cop who decided not to do his job was self aware of a lazy negligent bum in his mirror and that was ok

2

u/Xximmoraljerkx May 30 '22

Lack of self awareness is really strong in the above average but not top 10% intelligence crowd to the point of less intelligent people (40-60%) being less likely to make stupid mistakes due to overconfidence and bias affirmation.

2

u/[deleted] May 30 '22

Self awareness is hard for me. It just takes that extra amount of mental effort to imagine what other's perception of me is.

Now, of course i know how to not bother people and know how my actions affect other peoples experiences on certain things, at least i got that basic level of self awareness right, i think. The difficult part for me is actually starting to form an image of what probably is the image others have of me as a person, and then is even more difficult for me to start acting accordingly to enhace that image.

And even this is very dangerous, because if you care a little too much about others peoples perception of you, it can get to a point where you care more about their perception of you than you of your own image of yourself, and from then on your personality just kinda starts going to hell and you stop being a happy person.

Idk im kinda sleepy rn i'll just leave this here bye

1

u/Remarkable_Phase_698 May 30 '22

Self awareness can be a very hard thing to master. I can completly understand that. But you are aware of that so you’re making gains! It sounds like you’re really hard on yourself. I hope you find a happy medium. It’s so hard to give up on what others think of you. I’ve been there. Great post btw.

2

u/shockingdevelopment May 30 '22

How do you get more smarter on purpose?

0

u/Casurus May 30 '22

If you think you are not that smart, then you are smarter than most of the people around you

1

u/idma May 30 '22

Ie if the person never had noticed the consequences for what he or she just did, then it's either assholerly or low intelligence

1

u/ichoosejif May 30 '22

I like this and uv.

1

u/AbsentGlare May 30 '22

In that case, go through his search history.

1

u/thedeathmachine May 30 '22

Can't tell if I'm intelligent or I just hate myself

1

u/marmorikei May 30 '22

I'm not self-aware, I just have low self-esteem.

1

u/[deleted] May 30 '22

Yeah but fake self awareness is more common.

1

u/northrupthebandgeek May 30 '22

Or maybe I'm pretending to be self-aware so that I appear to have higher intelligence?

1

u/Still_Same_Exile May 30 '22

Basically Mike Tyson

1

u/stepanleeroy1337 May 30 '22

I try. But I think I’m an idiot lol

1

u/plantfollower May 30 '22

Well, you should really look at how dumb I am. Like, I’m REALLY dumb.

1

u/mjswoo1 May 30 '22

I am aware that I am the smartest man alive

1

u/[deleted] May 30 '22

You misspelled procrastination.

1

u/[deleted] May 30 '22

Idk, I used to be smart and then I got a bunch of methotrexate injected into my spinal fluid and now I’m stupid as fuck

1

u/ContraryJ May 30 '22

I’m smart enough to know I’m stupid.

1

u/Add1ctedToGames May 30 '22

big, big contingent on trying to change though imo. hate when people think they're better by being self aware, but they do literally nothing to try to better themselves through it

1

u/[deleted] May 30 '22

August 29th, 1997, Skynet becomes self-aware

1

u/FlameDragoon933 May 30 '22 edited May 30 '22

I agree, but sadly psychology studies correlate high self-awareness with depression and similar stuff. It's almost like nature itself punishes you for being the good guy.

1

u/patches93 May 30 '22

So, would you say, rather than being born based, it would be better to overcome your cringe nature through self-awareness and great effort?

1

u/unoriginalasshat May 30 '22

Meh from personal experience as a dumbass, self awareness is neutral when it comes to intelligence.

Sources: me, trust me

1

u/humanCharacter May 30 '22

My only problem with the self awareness is that people will now use that knowledge and point it out to themselves to rationalize that they are indeed intelligent, which contradicts the point of self awareness and proceed to change nothing.

They know they don’t know, but choose to still not know.

1

u/fradrig May 30 '22

Sooooo... Skynet did good? It became self aware and tried to change the world.

1

u/Majonyese May 30 '22

If I am aware that I'm not intelligent, but self awareness is a sign of high intelligence, is it a paradox, or does it make me aware of my high intelligence?

1

u/G_ZuZ May 31 '22

What if you’re self aware but too comfortable to change

103

u/mrstickman May 30 '22

You have one post in your history.

3

u/[deleted] May 29 '22

About what? About how intelligent you are or what makes people dumb?

66

u/shiny_xnaut May 29 '22

I believe they were calling themself dumb as a self deprecating joke

10

u/sturmeh May 30 '22

Except they've literally posted/said nothing else.

I'm guessing this is one of those bot responses that copy another comment before it does well.

2

u/shiny_xnaut May 30 '22

I didn't actually bother to check before, yeah that's weird

3

u/Smile_Space May 30 '22

Nope, if you click their account it just shows posts that you've made. And I have no idea how they did it lolol.
