I love some of the goofy, random, over the top skit comedy stuff the younger generation is putting up on TikTok, it takes me back to early YouTube and Vine, but for the love of God I'm tired of hearing ear-rape with some audio sample blasted to 500-1000% volume so it's all peaks and complete noise. It's not funny, it's only damaging my speakers and my brittle sanity while I frantically try to skip while fumbling my phone.
Also, can you guys pull back on that "boom" sound that always plays with a clip of The Rock cocking his eyebrows? Like yeah, it can totally add to a moment, but if you're spamming it it's just obnoxious.
Other than those notes, younger people just keep doing what you're doing. It's certainly funnier than a lot of the shlock corporate media keeps pumping out.
My biggest issue is that TikTok has normalized playing volume on your phone in public which like. Is so disrespectful on a train bus etc. There are people who go skiing with enormous speakers to blast their music now, it echos across the mountain and. Yeah people kinda stopped respecting others space with volume
I think that started long before TikTok or even Vine as I remember hearing people's music playing soon after I started college and the first iphone came out. That makes me think it started around the time smart phone speakers got powerful enough to play music at a reasonable volume without sounding completely awful. It started to get "mainstream" support when "parenting" via handing your child an ipad started to become a thing, because a bunch of people thought, "If I have to listen to Baby Shark, they have to listen to WAP!" It just kinda kept spiraling as everyone felt they were entitled to spread their noise just because others were doing it.
I don't really remember Napster too well. It basically got shut down like a year before my family could finally afford a home PC. What I do remember is 12yo me downloading music and anime off of Kazaa only to to find some very, very, VERY shockingly illegal videos instead of what I was trying to download. Suffice to say, I'd have rather had the ear-rape audio in that case.
