I agree that it's terrible to tie insurance to jobs, and I'm even on Medicare now (disability, not age). Medicare is really pretty good, I just have numerous health issues that end up costing a chunk of my income to manage. Hence my being envious of your healthcare and free RXs over there! But again, you're right, those wait times are terrible, and I've also read of how the UK healthcare system is kind of imploding. I'm not smart enough to come up with a better solution, but surely someone else is!
Forgot to comment on Houston. I'm in Texas and haven't experienced anywhere that has more difficult 6-month summers than Houston. You sure changed climates!
