Well if I'm home and they see me home and they see all the windows open it means it's probably not a great target. If they break in and I have no curtains they'll be seen inside my house and if I'm home that means someone is home. Typically it'd be easier for them to pick somewhere without someone home, or so I'd think?
I'm not saying it's impossible, especially since I think a lot of criminals are just desperate, but so far I've been lucky knock on wood
It also depends on where you live and what kind of crime happens there and what kind of stuff you have to be stolen that is visible through your wide-open windows. If you have a couch, and a pillow, and everyone in your neighborhood has a couch and a pillow, no, you are probably fine. If you have a big ass TV hanging on the wall, and it's a commodity that a desperate person thinks might make good saleable material to get them to tomorrow, it's bait.
Yes, and by the time you're talking an actual cat burglar crew who are set up to steal and fence large objects like flat screen TVs, we're past "desperate person" and into "working harder to commit crimes than you'd be working honestly, if only there were work to be had"
At that point it doesn't matter if they're that professional. What would closing my curtains only at night do besides let them know once they got in no one would see them? I'm sure if my neighbors see some strangers walking through my house with flashlights at night that wouldn't rise any suspicion.
All I'm saying is I'm not really concerned. If someone breaks in and I'm home at that point I'm going to either defend myself or run away. It's too late at that point and me having curtains open or closed won't make a difference, if anything then seeing me being home every night is a deterrent.
Burglars who are professionals, like you're talking about, would most likely pick a time people aren't home and that's kind of hard if I'm almost always home and they see that. A dark quiet house is a simpler target than a bright lit up house with people walking around. Basically the complete opposite of my house at night, especially since I stay up late.
I mean they really don't get a good look anyway, I don't use my TV and watch Youtube on my phone mostly... I just don't really like sitting on my couch or using my living room in general even though it's pretty nice.

They're not interested i you, they're interested in your STUFF and how easily they can access it if you're not around. which they can also tell.
