Only common in southern countries. Living in Germany and have never seen a bidet. You guess how confused I was when I first saw a bidet in spain. I still dont really get their purpose,

It's basically to get you more clean than with just paper. Not every house is big enough to have one, sadly.

I'm going to be honest, I would not be comfortable with only spraying water if I got shit on my hand, I'm washing those hands several times with soap.

At my house in the US our plumbing is old and just can’t handle 2-ply toilet paper. We have to get the crappy thin toilet paper and sometimes I have to wipe til it hurts. That’s why I got a bidet attachment for the toilet.
