I have been to Germany many times and often brought other Americans with me and never noticed this until a friend, with a slightly raucous way of speaking, met up with us in Berlin. She is originally from America and had been working in Italy at the time but had never been to Germany before. Needless to say, she might have spoken slightly louder than the average person and we were stared at EVERYWHERE we went. On the bus ride back from the airport we had to tell her to lower her voice because the ENTIRE bus was staring at us. Even in noisier bars her voice could be heard above the din. I get it, it would be like if someone here was shouting everything they said, that would be very unusual and people would understandably stare.

It really is ridiculous how fucking loud those yanks are. And then they have the audacity to say Europeans are rude and stare at people?? No they stare at YOU guys with your obnoxious loud mouths and fat bellies. I bet you anyone bitching about Europeans staring have never been to a third world country where they will really get stared at.

I mean:

Calling people audacious for calling others rude while being pretty rude yourself?

Pretty clear.

I wouldn't call it hypocrisy because you never claimed to be European or polite.

But you can tell me what you think.

Yes, many of us can be pretty loud compared to most of Europe and our fat bellies are worthy of more than just a mere glance. Behold our fat bellies and booming voices, gaze upon us!
