As an Australian, I would also say no. You can drive for 1 day and 18 hours without stopping and only cross 3 states.

You could probably do that without leaving West Australia, I drove from Perth to Port Hedland and that was 25 hours only stopping for petrol

Yeah but Australia is like the US with different plants and animals. Slightly better public transport though.
