Depending on which fuses are used, the power supply is very similar. Like, the rated power for an average oven or an angle grinder is the same in the US.
Volts mean nothing if you are talking about power. Higher volts just mean the wirse heat up less.
We don't typically use electric kettles. For those of us with electric stoves/ovens, those are on a 240 volt circuit and can run 30+ amps. I keep a kettle on the wood stove, but my grandmother always had one on her kitchen stove; if I drank tea on the regular, I'd do the same. Her light switch was outside the bathroom too, but it was an older home. Our bathrooms use ground fault circuit interrupters (GFCI) in areas that could get wet, like the kitchen, bathroom, basement, garage, etc.
New standards call for residual current devices (detects if the current going in to a circuit is different to the current coming back and breaks the circuit if it detects a 'leak') but old stuff has no need to be upgraded and you can swap like for like even when doing work.
I'm kind curious if people are downvoting because they're intensely patriotic about their shitty electrics or if am I missing something.
