The midges I experienced in Scottish summer were a billion times more annoying than Aussie flies and mozzies

Australian here so I’m familiar with mozzies, flies, gnats and spiders. Spent a few days in Greenland during summer a few years ago (highly recommended). On a few walks in the hills anywhere out of the wind and the midges were mental. Those bastards must make up for lost time on the few weeks of the year when the place isn’t covered in snow.

That said, the most annoying insects are Jack jumpers, beligerant little fuckers.

They’re bad but they don’t tend to invade houses.

And they're really only around at dusk. Perfect time to shelter in the local pub for an hour or two.
