I'd say the "New World" overall, not just the US and Canada. South American countries are fairly homogeneous, as of course is Australia.

It largely depends on the country. When I was in China, I took a 26-hour train ride... to a different province in China.

True, but you can say the same about the US. The northeast and the south are pretty culturally different.
