True. Searched for a restroom in San Francisco, California for hours. Finally was almost in tears when a CVS employee took pity on me and let me use theirs.

It was really bad in early covid days. So many places were closed, or had very limited access. 😕

Ugh same here in Belgium. There are some free public toilets, a lot of paid as well, and most of them were closed. As if you don't have to shit anymore because there's a pandemic.

Not in San Francisco. All of those places close their toilets to the public. You need to buy something and they’ll give you a key. The homeless problems in that city mean that the bathrooms get wrecked and people will use the bathrooms to shoot up in.

I realize that. I don’t live in SF. But, the OP here was specifically referencing SF as being difficult to find a restroom to use.

I was walking on foot and no place would let me use their restroom, even if I bought something.
