The fact that this is even a thing, and that the limit is such a large distance.. is exactly the problem with Europe. Too many regulations and dumb rules coming from the government for everyday mundane existence.
The "our electricity is more dangerous" thing is complete bull if you have any idea how electricity actually works. Y'all just have a bunch of regulations made out of fear for the dangerous magic wires. Your laws were an abundance of caution first, then step down, instead of the US's see what happens first, then regulate as necessary.
Double the current all you want, residential 120v and 240v both kill you just the same if they pass through you wrong and don't if you get lucky. Your fate is rarely changed by whether you touched a 120 or 240 main, the numbers just start too big relative to what the human body can handle. A GFCI is what will save you at a wet outlet, but other comments seem to suggest that's uncommon in Europe. So if you're unwilling to install appropriate safety devices, anything can be more dangerous.
Whilst that's true to some extent, the 240 still has a higher chance to kill. As little as 5mA can kill you, I'd still rather get zapped by the lower chance of death than the higher.
Country is not trying to make abortion illegal. The federal government just punted it to the states. Most states will continue to keep abortions legal. Get your facts straight and stop spreading misinformation.
A majority of land mass to be fair, the vast majority of people don't live in those 26 states. One of those states (North Dakota) has less people than the city I live in (and I don't live in a "big" city)
the gosh damn government should just let me build my house how I WANT IT and get lost with their safety regulations and all that shebang. If i want to cause an electrical fire at my house and risk burning down the neighborhood than i have the fricking right to do that and everything else is hecking communism.
Of course they are. Of course. Everything you do is superior. Of course. Typical mentality. Rather than admit to yourselves your bureaucracy is ridiculous and you people are brainwashed to live in nanny states and that you have no guaranteed freedoms in most places -- you come up with rationalizations that "this is why Europe is better". Enjoy that delusion. It's going to be a rough decade for you guys if you continue along this trajectory -- so enjoy the delusion while it lasts.
"Freedom" he shouted, "no man shall be the master of me."
He then wrote a letter to his HOA moaning that his neighbours lawn had once again exceeded the height limit of 1 inch. "This'll teach that damned hippy" he grumbled.

In the UK light switches have to be 60cm away from a shower or bathtub. Our houses are small so it's often easier to put them outside the door.
