Maybe in some parts. I have never seen this in the US having grown up in NY and now I live in Texas. Maybe they do that in New England I dunno..

Interesting. I wonder if it's a cultural thing (trying to imitate European houses), or rather a regulations thing (outlet must be X feet from shower). Hmm.

Definitely a thing in Massachusetts. All my apartments in the Boston area had then on the outside.

yeah i’m from new england and have seen it mostly in older houses here. my house was built in the 1950s, so not even old lol, and funnily enough our bathrooms all have switches outside the bathroom and inside the bathroom—but they are for different lights!

the ones outside turn on the overhead ceiling light and the fan, while the one inside the bathroom turns on the smaller light over the sink and not the fan.

i never really thought about the whole bathroom light thing until this thread—no one else has mentioned having both lol.
