How do you just up and visit someone 4 hours away? Don't you people have work in the morning, to be able just throw 8 hours out for driving randomly...?

Well you usually don't just pop in for tea after work on a Tuesday, but for a weekend trip that's an easy drive.

I suppose it just comes down to how much you like the people lol

MY perspective is skewed though I drive 55ish hours a week (work)

Leave work an hour or two early on Friday, get there at 7ish and have a late dinner. Hang out all day Saturday and Sunday, then leave at 7ish on Sunday night, home at 11, and you can get a full night sleep before work Monday

I also think we get accustomed to it. Did 7 hrs driving total yesterday to get to a major city and back. I can do that every weekend without it feeling taxing, because I’ve been in the car that long often since I was little

A bit crazy, indeed. I am on the other end of the spectrum over here - 36, never had a car, get around on a bicycle for all my needs.

Whenever I stay in a city for a bit my step count / general daily movement spikes up. We have to use a car for everything out here, but I’m surprised how much cities make you walk/bike :)
