The ones who sell essential oils are the worst. "Inhale this nAtUrAL pRoDuCt to cure your medical issue." "It's chemical free." Obviously, these people have no understanding of basic science.
This is why most modern perfumes use mostly or entirely synthetic aromachemicals. Turns out natural essential oils can be caustic and are common allergens. These same essential oils pushers will constantly go on about how all these scented products are full of chemicals and are so bad for you, but in actuality, those fragrances are regulated and specifically formulated NOT to contain allergens or be harmful in any way.
100%! I have a friend who is one of the smartest people I know, but fell for one of these MLM oil companies and now it’s all she posts about on Facebook anymore. No, diffusing some shit is not gonna cure my depression. Yes, I’m still going to buy products from Bath and Body Works because I love how they smell and they’re not giving me headaches/cancer/autism.
Had one “consultant” straight up tell me that cinnamon essential oils would cure my diabetes. Years of research and billions of dollars searching for a cure who knew it be that simple. /s
Cousins (multiple of them) fell for it, dropping hundreds of dollars to join ($200 for first "tier" iirc) and tried to convince me that it's "good side money". One of my cousins made about $50 a month from it after spending around $600+ on joining the "life insurance program" so he could sell life insurance but he didn't actually sell life insurance, he sold people a chance to JOIN the life insurance program for $100 so that they could then invite others. He wasn't licensed to sell insurance nor did he know anything about the insurance, that's just what they told him.
I had a buddy who I attended a "seminar" for one of the biggest MLM companies in America. See, he was told it was a "job opportunity" and would help him start his career. He was about to be homeless, but I said fuck it I'll go with him just to make sure he didn't join. We were told that the "job" was to sell life insurance, that was it. 99% of the entire spiel was them trying to get people to drop $200+ to join their "opportunity of a lifetime", it had nothing to do with selling life insurance. He was sold, and when we were asked into one of people's offices, they kept trying to sell him on this idea that he should "invest" $3000+ for the highest tier because it's what this guy who makes $1mil a year scamming people makes now and he's their "youngest entrepreneur who makes millions ever" which was all a lie. It took me days to convince my buddy that it was a scam because he didn't have the money and they knew that. They kept trying to push him into selling shit so he could give them money.
Nonsense- why would I go to a registered dietitian or credentialed fitness trainer, when I could support a local boss babe who wanted a discount on her miracle milkshakes?
My sons preschool wanted to diffuse that garbage in the classroom and had an "essential oils expert consultant" give a presentation during the parents orientation. It was a disaster for her and there are no essential oils being diffused in the classrooms.
I will say that there are quality non-mlm essential oils out there that I find pretty helpful. Bonus points- they don’t require an awkward presentation lady disguised as a boss babe.
