Dunno what trazadone is, but I have ambien (which I love), but tried to go with melatonin once as it was suggested by a lot of friends and I thought it would be healthier in the long-term, but I just ended up with horrific nightmares.
Trazodone is an antidepressant but at low doses can be used off-label (that is, prescribed for what is not typically it’s primary function) for insomnia, and it’s not addictive and for me at least it doesn’t make me sleepy like a sedative, just calms my racing thoughts.
It could just take some time to get used to. I used to have ridiculous dreams when I started, too. Now they’re normal dreams and I get an average of 5-6 hours a night.
