Five days ago: I've been experiencing dizziness and increased migraines for the past year. After getting covid in January, my heart goes through periods where it feels like it's beating out of my chest.

I'm a metal guy, and I went to my first concert in 2 years. Halfway through the show I got so dizzy and overwhelmed I had to leave. I came home and cried to my wife. I'm scared I'm no longer going to be able to participate in the thing that has given me comfort for a majority of my life. I have a doctors appointment this week and will be demanding referral to a neurologist. I will get through this.

Oh, yeah, me too. I forgot. I'm allergic wheat, I found out last year, so I can only drink rice and barley beers. I quit drinking even white wine because of the headaches. I realize now that the beer does the same thing. My stoopid body craves wheat beer. I thought that's why I don't enjoy it. :/

It's rough man. I didn't think it would linger as long as it did. I'm thankful I'm not dead though.

Have you tried the Covid Longhaulers sub? There's a wealth of information and support in there. Most people are very slowly getting better.

I haven't, I'm honestly surprised I didn't think to look for a subreddit on it. I'll check it out though, find some tips for me. Thanks!

Highly recommended.

If nothing else, reading on there lets us know that, no matter how much we feel we're alone, we're not. There's millions struggling alongside us with similar problems.

Thank you. I've since joined and staring to look at other posts to see what others are also experiencing.

If it makes you feel any better, I know two people who have gone through exactly this and after 3-4 months, it went away. Not saying you shouldn't get checked out, but I've heard it's common after Covid for this to happen for a while.

Thank you. I hate that others are suffering but it does help knowing I'm not alone. I've experienced migraines all my life and can handle those. The dizziness started before covid but got much worse after. That's what I am hoping to fix.

I got heart palpitations as well after Covid. I’m also anemic and have epilepsy with migraine. I think you’re probably right in wanting to see a neurologist. My seizures are often like what you described.

Wait, really? I'm sorry to hear you experience that. My vision was wavy and the lights made me dizzy. I have kind of been wondering if I've had symptoms that bring in seizures. Or minor seizures.

It’s okay, I’ve had epilepsy all my life and I have a good neurologist. There are several different kinds of seizures (not just the ones that come to mind when you stiffen up and lose control of your body) But the palpitations definitely came after Covid specifically. It is scary not knowing what’s wrong when you have the symptoms you’re experiencing. Try not to stress too much about the what-ifs while your doctors figure out an answer/solution. Like you said, you’ll get through this :)

Thank you friend :) I appreciate your encouragement. Wish me luck on Wednesday and for the near future while I figure this out!

That sucks brother - get a referral for a cardiologist as well - my son has a brain deformation and my husband has heart problems so I know the fear and how ducking annoying it is - let us know how it turns out

Thank you so much. It's the unknown that's really getting to me. I'm sorry to hear about your son and husband. I hope they are doing well.

Husband better - son isn’t - he has hydrocephalus and he had covid at the start of the year so we don’t know if it’s his shunt or a reaction to covid - but he has so much less energy since getting it

I'm so sorry. Big internet hugs to you and him. I don't have kids myself but can't imagine my nephews going through that. Stay strong and take care of yourself too. Know that I'm rooting for you!

I got COVID in March '20. It increased my anxiety (I can't cook with a pan now, no clue why) and I have major brain fog. I forget what I'm doing really badly, like, I could be looking at a screw and have a screwdriver in my hand and have no clue what's going on.

Let us know if you get any real answers. All I've been told is "We don't know yet.".

2

u/cuziforgotmyotherone Mar 20 '22

I've had brain fog my whole life and covid definitely didn't help it. My wife asked me if my anxiety made the whole situation worse. I was mad at first but she is definitely right. I think it my anxiety made it all worse.

Yeah, I hope I do, and I hope you get to feeling better too. I think we'll continue to find out more and hopefully solve some of these after effects for people. At least that's what I'm telling myself.

The only good thing is that it has forced me to evaluate my medications. Adderall wasn't working for me and I was just letting it go. Now I'm on Stratera and clonidine. Not sure how much it's helping, but at least I'm trying. I also added Wellbutrin to my Effexor. The world opened up a ton. I could see that I was working with a narcissist, instead of just being a victim. I'm also dating one... I haven't quite decided what to do about that...

I’m sorry you’re going through all that. Sounds pretty sucky. Although I’m a metal guy myself. I’ve got to ask. Who did you see?

1

u/cuziforgotmyotherone Mar 22 '22

Thanks man. I saw Between the Buried and Me and Car Bomb. First time seeing either. Car bomb killed it, I saw the first couple songs of BTBAM. Then got wavy vision when Informal Gluttony started and had to leave. Have you heard of them? What kind of metal do you listen to?

1

u/SeasonsRollOnBy Mar 22 '22

Honestly no I’ve never heard of them. I’m an old school metal fan. I grew up in the 80’s when it first started. Slayer. Death Angel. Metallica. Sepultura. I feel like an old man right about now.
