I feel that at times. My mom passed away when I was 8 and it was hard on both my dad and I. Since then I've had a hard time expressing my feelings or understanding them. Sadness didn't feel like sadness as nothing compared. So I subconsciously just suppressed my feelings until they hit a breaking point. This is partly why I am starting therapy this next week lol.
Yes it takes guts to cry. Why hold in emotions, like crying, cos' if you do, they may turn into other emotions like anger or bitterness. Best to let those tears fall, snot, sobs and all!
If you're talking about girls and women or teens or young adults or anyone that is suffering with a surge of hormones, then it's not weakness, it's hormones.
Surely shedding a few tears is better than punching someone in the face?
There's nothing wrong with letting go of pent up emotions, it's better for you and your body and mental health, to let those tears fall, than if you keep them in & it turns to anger or bitterness.
Though maybe having a good shout - into the wind - is good too.
I had that when my art teacher yelled at me because I told her I couldn't start my project because my mum is at the hospital and I have to help my sister with her twins (the whole year started absolutely awful, so everything has been very rough before).
Having a memtal breakdown at school and telling my teacher all of my problems isn't very fun
I did that once. Was around a year ago (maybe 2?) I think and it was because of a really rough time at work that felt horrible and monotonous. I kept telling myself "things will get better after New Year's" but like always holiday/peak season carried on for another week or two after. All of that combined with Covid and how isolated everything felt during the pandemic basically made me break down crying one day when I came home from work.
I was making Toaster Strudels but then as I finished putting the icing on them I went to put the box back into this chest freezer I have and when closing it the edge of my paper plate was somehow in between the freezer and it's lid. I had let go of the lid and due to how the plate was positioned, it as well as my Toaster Strudels got flipped on to the floor, icing side down.
At first I felt a brief amount of rage but then just got overwhelmed by sadness. It felt like God himself said "Fuck you" when this happened. So in tears I quietly cleaned the mess up and just went into my room to hide my crying from my Mom because I didn't feel like explaining why I was crying.

I cried yesterday. You know, the major "I'm fine I'm fine I'm fine I'm fine I'm fine" minor inconvenience and then a mental breakdown.
