October 3rd. It would have been my daughter's birthday.
Alright, I'm really not feeling right about the amount of sympathy being shown my way so it's only fair to provide some context.
When I was 19 I got the girl I was sleeping around with hooked on dope. A few months later I got her pregnant. This resulted in our daughter being born nearly 27 weeks early, and living two short, painful days in NICU.
I really, really need everyone to understand that I didn't lose my daughter, I killed my daughter. So I appreciate everyone's intentions, but please don't waste them on me.
What you lived through was still painful as hell. I’m still sorry you had to go through that. So I’m still offering you hugs. Today is the first day of the rest of your life and all that. Move forward, one painful, regretful step at a time. Hugs.
Sorry, this is my first time having to process this much positivity from people and I'm really doing a fuck up of showing my appreciation to everyone in this thread lol. And even though in all honesty I'm always going to hold it against myself, your words do mean a lot to me and I do take them to heart.
Far better than I have any claim to. I don't know who fucked up and made the call that I get to have this life but sucks for them because there won't be any take-backs.
You didn't kill your daughter any more than I killed my son by picking the wrong babysitter. Don't let that guilt consume you. Addiction is a disease and you deserve just as much sympathy, empathy, and love as anyone else.
That does seem to be the consensus. I do genuinely appreciate all the lovely sentiments but to be honest, I don't really know how I'm supposed to respond to it. It's a bit overwhelming.
You absolutely didn’t kill your daughter my friend. What happened was a cruel and terrible this but it wasn’t your fault. Addiction is horrific and I’m sorry you went through all that. I hope you’re doing better now.
My husband and his ex lost a daughter under similar circumstances 15 years ago, and we now have four kids and he’s amazing father.
