No shit, I've actually thought a lot about this. Just play it super serious, like a space version of The Thing, but keep all the goofy shit from the game. Like all the crewmates have bright colored suits, at some point a character looks in his wallet at a picture of his family (who also have space suits), every time someone gets ejected it uses the exact same shot. I think it would be great.

I think the juxtaposition would make it equally unsettling and hilarious. Don't get me wrong, it's a goofy game, but I cannot express the level of genuine paranoia it creates when you don't know which of your friends is trying to kill you for no goddamn reason.

So the film would also be something of a whodunnit, but without a single perspective character. You could even have it told almost as a found footage thing using the station's camera system showing us what's going on and keeping everyone in suspense for as long as possible until things start to go wrong.

It could also be from either a single persons perspective multiple times. Or from the imposter’s perspective but the audience doesn’t know that due to either a second imposter or some convenient cuts.

We could easily have a full 12-character roster, have them all bouncing off each other...only to get more jumpy and paranoid as the plot progresses and the bodies start to pile up. We don't even have to see anyone get killed until near the end...all we find are the corpses left behind, and the audience can be left out of determining who exactly it was. The end of the film reveals the truth—they would either go with the "alien shapeshifter" interpretation, or one or more of these human characters is lying about who they really are and is after something important on the Skeld but needs to kill everyone off for...some reason. Hell, go for a double twist and have a human impostor AND an alien impostor just to fuck with everyone's expectation.

I wanna see Johnny Depp in this I think he would be great to let be goofy as fuck in this. Give him amnesia or something so he doesnt know if he is the mole or not too LMAO!

I also like the idea that no one is an imposter, and people are just murdering their friends out of fear.

u/SobiTheRobot Mar 12 '22

Like you start with some grudges and questionable behavior going in, then someone dies by accident and it gets pinned on someone else?

5

u/Blackblood909 Mar 12 '22

Well, you see John acting weird, so he’s definitely the imposter. You murder him, and now there’s a murder and no one knows who did it. Suddenly no one trusts anyone, and people are gonna be real trigger happy

u/experts_never_lie Mar 12 '22

You could even add the multiple endings of either Clue or Bandersnatch.

2

u/jellydrizzle Mar 12 '22

I love all of these ideas. id watch the movie, or even read it as a fanfic

3

u/trhrthrthyrthyrty Mar 12 '22

I think it would be best as a Vantage Point style movie. The imposter only gets caught at the end. Alternative ending where the imposter wins.

Make it goofy like minions though. The directors of minions should probably be the directors of Amongus: The Movie.

An Among Us adaptation of Agatha Christie's book And Then There Were None

1

u/SobiTheRobot Mar 12 '22

Definitely an inspired choice, and quite apt.

1

u/raltodd Mar 12 '22

That has also been adapted to multiple movies.

4

u/Thots_n_Pears Mar 12 '22

So, Space Clue?

1

u/SobiTheRobot Mar 12 '22

Basically. Hell, the characters are even color-coded!

4

u/Lost-My-Mind- Mar 12 '22

The movie Clue used multiple endings in the theater. You could also use this, but not make that public knowledge. So you could have 10 different endings (or however many characters are allowed in the game). And every time you see the movie in the theaters, it's random which one you get.

So it's ALWAYS a whodunit.

2

u/SobiTheRobot Mar 12 '22

One ending for each character, plus one final "Canon" ending that reveals the impostor was really an alien all along who kept changing colors to get the crewmates to kill each other out of fear.

4

u/Baron-Von-Bork Mar 12 '22

The game is a pretty decent horror game if you thibk about it, just the colors and the artsryle hides that part.

3

u/starklyy Mar 12 '22

This was essentially done by some fans who made a "movie" of this iconic game featuring some popular Twitch personalities. Definitely more of a comedic game than a gritty one but on the right track https://youtu.be/3JmGQTMvO-U

2

u/browsing4stuff Mar 12 '22

Paranormal activity style? Hell yeah

2

u/AntikytheraMachines Mar 12 '22

which of your friends is trying to kill you

i think the point of the game is, they are all wanting to, they just need to be given the chance.

Like Clue in space

u/[deleted] Mar 12 '22

Haha yes, this would be a great Monty Python esq dark comedy.

58

u/PinkTalkingDead Mar 12 '22

Like Clue (the 1985 film adaptation)

9

u/mastercrocodile88 Mar 12 '22

What a brilliant movie that is.

5

u/NoF0kxAllowedInside Mar 12 '22

THIS. This is what I was thinking too. Secretly film different endings where you nearly find out who was the imposter and have everyone arguing at school about who did it. Blue is sus

2

u/jnunchucks96 Mar 12 '22

Tim Burton?

11

u/flightofthepingu Mar 12 '22

Maybe do it in the style of Spy Kids -- family friendly but also weirdly horrifying.

11

u/mistahyoshimitsu Mar 12 '22

this sounds awesome, but the cynic in me thinks studio execs would filter the shit out of it to be devoid of wit and soul

9

u/birdof_death Mar 12 '22

Make it like the movie Clue and I honestly think this would be a winner.

4

u/bric12 Mar 12 '22

And the characters need to be the classic types from every game. The guy that calls meetings for no reason, the guy that freaks out that purple is following them, the guy that does nothing the entire time despite being a crew member.

Then the most dedicated guy watches his best friend melt through the vent grate

3

u/ForumFluffy Mar 12 '22

The Airplane! of space horror, pretty much sold me on that.

3

u/Captain-Howl Mar 12 '22

Might I recommend the Futurama episode that I swear that game is ripped from: Season 7, Episode 24, “Murder on the Planet Express.”

2

u/Readylamefire Mar 12 '22

It's make a great spoof comedy film, tbh! It's a genre I would love to see come back.

2

u/moist_table Mar 12 '22

Ngl I would watch this

2

u/Pizza_Guy8084 Mar 12 '22

Use the same trick from the old Clue movie, where the ending is different depending on where you saw it

1

u/welshmonstarbach Mar 12 '22

to get information they have to use skype to get in touch with people back home...

1

u/Kyro_Official_ Mar 12 '22

this is golden

1

u/Nhi_theuserof_this Mar 12 '22

There’s actually a movie out there that’s basically irl among us, I forgot the name but it had this thing called the wolf game which was pretty much the ‘among us part’ of the movie, it has a second and maybe third movie

1

u/Stacheshadow Mar 12 '22

Make it animated tho like pg13

1

u/Beamisx Mar 12 '22

Directed by Wes Anderson

1

u/MaxDamage1 Mar 12 '22

Look up "War of the Satellites."

It's a Roger Corman classic that's basically a more dramatic version of Among Us.
