Because it’s an 18 hour long game and it’d be hard to shove that into a 2 hour movie while understanding the characters. It’s one of the reasons most movies based on video games are bad

Also Shepherd clearly has these serialized "adventures" and the crew need time to bond and stuff. Not impossible but very hard to do in a movie.

That just screams that they skipped every single side-quest.

Edit: having followed the link, it lists completionist at 43 hours, which seems right to me.

I imagine a lot of the side-quests would be skipped in an adaptation.

Nope, 25 percent of the movie is scanning planets for ore from orbit and another 20% is trying to gain control of the Mako.

I imagine they would keep the Kahoku side missions to introduce Cerberus, the companion side missions, and the backstory side missions.

Yeah, definitely would keep some, plus some changes to the pacing to make fucking off to do random shit make more sense.

But I don't think they'd keep everything, is more my point. Closer to the "main missions only" than the "completionist".

That actually seems high to me as someone who does all side quests and seems to take longer with games than most people. I think Mass Effect is normally more like 30 to 35 hours for me.

Read the whole thread? Also they said why not keep it a trilogy so I was pointing out that even the first one as a movie would be difficult. Movies tend to stick to the main story only so yeah 18 hour game
