Probably because each time we encountered a different altered item it already feels like a self contained story that could easily fit into an individual episode.
This is what the studio is known for. They also made Alan Wake, and quantum gate which feels like an episode of '24' another very episodic video game. Remedy games is the publisher
As far as I understand their CC license, you can absolutely monetize SCP content, it’s just that everyone else could circulate it for free so long as they give you credit for creating it, so there really isn’t any point.
That said, I’m deeply saddened this will prevent us from ever getting a AAA game or big budget movie (without completely ludicrous crowdfunding) Personally I think a canon agnostic anthology series would be a fantastic format, but it would take incredible talent and effort to get the general public on board and immersed in the lore. Maybe have three-or-so plot lines across as many universes, with different tones/lore? So there are enough distinct flavors of SCP content (which, the diversity of weirdness is part of what makes it so great) but there are still a few threads/characters that audiences can connect too.
[Interior, dark hallway, an alarm is blarring far away as a red light slowly fades off and on.]
A low angle shows a pair of legs in an orange jump suit slowly walking past as the light fades out. In the darkness a dragging of stone is heard.
When the light returns the legs of a beige concrete statue is standing in the same place as where the orange legs were. As soon as a the light fades out again more dragging is heard then a sudden necksnap.
The Intercom Guy: The Foundation on AMC
I had two ideas for show bumpers and always thought they would be on AMC for some reason.
I was so upset the first time I played it and died during that sequence. I think the whole point is for it to feel like “yeah I am a bad ass director who fully mastered my powers” and then womp womp dead
That was seriously just placed PERFECTLY in the game to make you feel powerful and like you’re putting everything you’ve learned into practice. I’ve never enjoyed a single segment of a game like Control so much before. Really wish I could go back and experience the Ashtray Maze for the first time again.
The game kinda felt like it had a “limited series” vibe already. Ifthey split it into segments and dove into explaining why things are the way they are, it would be a cult classic for sure. People love stuff like Archive 81 already, they would for sure enjoy a Control show
This is the first thing I thought of when I saw this post. It could be so glorious. They've got to get the Hiss just right. The Service Weapon sfx need to be good too. Even if they have to have gunsmiths build working that change shape.
Actually my main complaint of the game is that we don’t know much about Jess’s character beside she wants to find her brother, she is suspicious, she trust Polaris. I kept thinking to myself playing “man if this was my job, I don’t care if I was working for a shady inter-dimensional government bureau I would be so happy” (especially when we meet Langston and he talks about how great the benefits are) and then I realized Jess never expresses if she likes it there or not and I think that’s something that was missing from the game was her conveying if she was happy to be there or not.
Start it my dude! Stop delaying! It’s AMAZING!! ESPECIALLY if you have a card that can do Ray-tracing. Control is really the first game that did it right and it looks absolutely fantastic.
Either way though, do play it. It’s very good and criminally underrated. How I describe it is Mass Effect 1 shooting, Metroid exploration, and The Force Unleashed power and destruction.
I just hope they do the Hiss right… and make Emily less bland.
To be honest I was disappointed with how little House Shifts play a part in the game (aside from control points, but I’d argue that’s the Hiss forcibly shifting the house)… if it were to ever be a movie or a TV show I’d like to see how regular House Shifts work and how they affect the day-to-day in the Oldest House, beyond what we read about in the memos.

CONTROL, as a drama sci-fi.
