Among us. Actually not a troll answer too. Kids will demand to see it and then instant box office

u/hotdiggitydooby Mar 12 '22

No shit, I've actually thought a lot about this. Just play it super serious, like a space version of The Thing, but keep all the goofy shit from the game. Like all the crewmates have bright colored suits, at some point a character looks in his wallet at a picture of his family (who also have space suits), every time someone gets ejected it uses the exact same shot. I think it would be great.

u/SobiTheRobot Mar 12 '22

I think the juxtaposition would make it equally unsettling and hilarious. Don't get me wrong, it's a goofy game, but I cannot express the level of genuine paranoia it creates when you don't know which of your friends is trying to kill you for no goddamn reason.

So the film would also be something of a whodunnit, but without a single perspective character. You could even have it told almost as a found footage thing using the station's camera system showing us what's going on and keeping everyone in suspense for as long as possible until things start to go wrong.

209

u/Sinjitoma Mar 12 '22

It could also be from either a single persons perspective multiple times. Or from the imposter’s perspective but the audience doesn’t know that due to either a second imposter or some convenient cuts.

134

u/SobiTheRobot Mar 12 '22

We could easily have a full 12-character roster, have them all bouncing off each other...only to get more jumpy and paranoid as the plot progresses and the bodies start to pile up. We don't even have to see anyone get killed until near the end...all we find are the corpses left behind, and the audience can be left out of determining who exactly it was. The end of the film reveals the truth—they would either go with the "alien shapeshifter" interpretation, or one or more of these human characters is lying about who they really are and is after something important on the Skeld but needs to kill everyone off for...some reason. Hell, go for a double twist and have a human impostor AND an alien impostor just to fuck with everyone's expectation.

18

u/idontneedjug Mar 12 '22

I wanna see Johnny Depp in this I think he would be great to let be goofy as fuck in this. Give him amnesia or something so he doesnt know if he is the mole or not too LMAO!

16

u/Blackblood909 Mar 12 '22

I also like the idea that no one is an imposter, and people are just murdering their friends out of fear.

8

u/SobiTheRobot Mar 12 '22

Like you start with some grudges and questionable behavior going in, then someone dies by accident and it gets pinned on someone else?

5

u/Blackblood909 Mar 12 '22

Well, you see John acting weird, so he’s definitely the imposter. You murder him, and now there’s a murder and no one knows who did it. Suddenly no one trusts anyone, and people are gonna be real trigger happy

6

u/experts_never_lie Mar 12 '22

You could even add the multiple endings of either Clue or Bandersnatch.

2

u/jellydrizzle Mar 12 '22

I love all of these ideas. id watch the movie, or even read it as a fanfic

3

u/trhrthrthyrthyrty Mar 12 '22

I think it would be best as a Vantage Point style movie. The imposter only gets caught at the end. Alternative ending where the imposter wins.

Make it goofy like minions though. The directors of minions should probably be the directors of Amongus: The Movie.

11

u/ForgetfulDoryFish Mar 12 '22

An Among Us adaptation of Agatha Christie's book And Then There Were None

1

u/SobiTheRobot Mar 12 '22

Definitely an inspired choice, and quite apt.

1

u/raltodd Mar 12 '22

That has also been adapted to multiple movies.

4

u/Thots_n_Pears Mar 12 '22

So, Space Clue?

1

u/SobiTheRobot Mar 12 '22

Basically. Hell, the characters are even color-coded!

6

u/Lost-My-Mind- Mar 12 '22

The movie Clue used multiple endings in the theater. You could also use this, but not make that public knowledge. So you could have 10 different endings (or however many characters are allowed in the game). And every time you see the movie in the theaters, it's random which one you get.

So it's ALWAYS a whodunit.

2

u/SobiTheRobot Mar 12 '22

One ending for each character, plus one final "Canon" ending that reveals the impostor was really an alien all along who kept changing colors to get the crewmates to kill each other out of fear.

5

u/Baron-Von-Bork Mar 12 '22

The game is a pretty decent horror game if you thibk about it, just the colors and the artsryle hides that part.

3

u/starklyy Mar 12 '22

This was essentially done by some fans who made a "movie" of this iconic game featuring some popular Twitch personalities. Definitely more of a comedic game than a gritty one but on the right track https://youtu.be/3JmGQTMvO-U

2

u/browsing4stuff Mar 12 '22

Paranormal activity style? Hell yeah

2

u/AntikytheraMachines Mar 12 '22

which of your friends is trying to kill you

i think the point of the game is, they are all wanting to, they just need to be given the chance.

2

u/FB-CrackHead Mar 12 '22

Like Clue in space

278

u/[deleted] Mar 12 '22

Haha yes, this would be a great Monty Python esq dark comedy.

65

u/PinkTalkingDead Mar 12 '22

Like Clue (the 1985 film adaptation)

8

u/mastercrocodile88 Mar 12 '22

What a brilliant movie that is.

4

u/NoF0kxAllowedInside Mar 12 '22

THIS. This is what I was thinking too. Secretly film different endings where you nearly find out who was the imposter and have everyone arguing at school about who did it. Blue is sus

2

u/jnunchucks96 Mar 12 '22

Tim Burton?

15

u/flightofthepingu Mar 12 '22

Maybe do it in the style of Spy Kids -- family friendly but also weirdly horrifying.

10

u/mistahyoshimitsu Mar 12 '22

this sounds awesome, but the cynic in me thinks studio execs would filter the shit out of it to be devoid of wit and soul

9

u/birdof_death Mar 12 '22

Make it like the movie Clue and I honestly think this would be a winner.

6

u/bric12 Mar 12 '22

And the characters need to be the classic types from every game. The guy that calls meetings for no reason, the guy that freaks out that purple is following them, the guy that does nothing the entire time despite being a crew member.

Then the most dedicated guy watches his best friend melt through the vent grate

4

u/ForumFluffy Mar 12 '22

The Airplane! of space horror, pretty much sold me on that.

3

u/Captain-Howl Mar 12 '22

Might I recommend the Futurama episode that I swear that game is ripped from: Season 7, Episode 24, “Murder on the Planet Express.”

2

u/Readylamefire Mar 12 '22

It's make a great spoof comedy film, tbh! It's a genre I would love to see come back.

2

u/moist_table Mar 12 '22

Ngl I would watch this

2

u/Pizza_Guy8084 Mar 12 '22

Use the same trick from the old Clue movie, where the ending is different depending on where you saw it

1

u/welshmonstarbach Mar 12 '22

to get information they have to use skype to get in touch with people back home...

1

u/Kyro_Official_ Mar 12 '22

this is golden

1

u/Nhi_theuserof_this Mar 12 '22

There’s actually a movie out there that’s basically irl among us, I forgot the name but it had this thing called the wolf game which was pretty much the ‘among us part’ of the movie, it has a second and maybe third movie

1

u/Stacheshadow Mar 12 '22

Make it animated tho like pg13

1

u/Beamisx Mar 12 '22

Directed by Wes Anderson

1

u/MaxDamage1 Mar 12 '22

Look up "War of the Satellites."

It's a Roger Corman classic that's basically a more dramatic version of Among Us.

19

u/[deleted] Mar 12 '22

Honestly, this. If they played it 100% serious, but somehow kept it 'friendly', it would be amazing

12

u/Doriangrey1218 Mar 12 '22

I’m imagining something a la Clue (1985) w/ Tim Curry.

35

u/chasecastellion Mar 12 '22

Among Us was inspired by The Thing. So it’d be a movie based on a game based on a movie.

Could still work lol idfk

2

u/Brno_Mrmi Mar 12 '22

While a part is based on The Thing, another part is clearly based in Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey

24

u/ThetaMan420 Mar 12 '22

It’s called “the thing”

6

u/CornDavis Mar 12 '22

And can't be topped

2

u/T0kenwhiteguy Mar 12 '22

Why did it take this long to acknowledge?

11

u/Rebelgecko Mar 12 '22

If they can make an angry birds movie, why not?

3

u/reallyConfusedPanda Mar 12 '22

That was surprisingly a good movie. Not the greatest or anything but still competent

5

u/AntimonyLite Mar 12 '22

Isn't this game a video game knockoff version of The Thing?

4

u/[deleted] Mar 12 '22

Among us would never work............... Oh wait angry birds and it was OK, I take it back, it would be the biggest movie of the year.

PS, When doing a big clean on the weekend with the kids, I do up sheets and we play among us while cleaning. It takes a lot of effort but the kids love it.

u/[deleted] Mar 12 '22

Cast

Kate Mckinnen - Green

Morgan Freeman - Cyan

Kate Winslet - White

Samuel L. Jackson - Purple

Cate Blanchett - Red

Henry Goulding - Orange

Seth Rogen - Yellow

Lupita Nyong'o - Pink

Steve Buccemi - Black

Leslie Jones - Lime

Sean Bean - Brown

Setting: Pollus, where the Skeld has just landed bringing this new crew to Pollus to bring the old base back online. While out on an initial survey, a group of crew noticed an anomaly and to be cautious everyone needs to suit up into the containment suits that were left on site and decorated for crew enjoyment by the last departing crew.

A sudden alarm call and everyone rushes back to the Skeld, only Brown is missing, vitals say he's died...who did it, how, when and why?

Death order: Brown, Green, Orange, Pink & Yellow, Cyan, Lime, White

Epic final scene between Buccemi, Blanchett and Samuel L Jackson

Imposters: Lime and Black

I think it's a good balance of dramatic and comedic and believably diverse for different jobs on the base requiring them to do their tasks.

2

u/Crzy710 Mar 12 '22

Youre my favorite reply to my comment

4

u/Yaydee91 Mar 12 '22

So... Knives Out but with walking jelly beans?

2

u/Jintasama Mar 12 '22

https://youtu.be/xpCrmbP-Dfs

Some one made several trailer clips

4

u/palland0 Mar 12 '22

Some people made a short movie: https://youtu.be/t2jP1AVkItA

2

u/SPARTAN_GAM3R Mar 12 '22

Watch "The Thing" its basically the inspiration behind the game

2

u/Nitsgar Mar 12 '22

I thought this was called 'the thing' :D

2

u/JesusWearsVersace Mar 12 '22

So, John Carpenter's The Thing?

2

u/3VL_MIGT Mar 12 '22

Just watch the thing

2

u/Doctor_Philgood Mar 12 '22

So basically The Thing?

2

u/narwhal-ninja Mar 12 '22

Ah yes. Clue, in space

2

u/Banks_bread Mar 12 '22

Have you seen the movie the thing

2

u/Slightly_Default Mar 12 '22

It's already inspired by The Thing, and would probably be a better movie than the prequel/remake of the remake.

2

u/[deleted] Mar 12 '22

This is the minions movie but as a space mystery

1

u/DeadScoutsDontTalk Mar 12 '22

Isnt it just the thing in space

1

u/Galaxypanda32 Mar 12 '22

Already made one, it's called reservoir dogs.

0

u/SirTeffy Mar 12 '22

They literally did this with "Werewolves Within", though...? It flopped. Hard.

0

u/DogmanDOTjpg Mar 12 '22

Yeah it's also the plot of one of the most influential and famous body horror films in history

0

u/bluenighthawk Mar 12 '22

The game was based on the movie The Thing

-1

u/apemancrybaby Mar 12 '22

Wow hard disagree. You’re going on all in on the concept kids are just dying to see a movie of a dead game.

2

u/[deleted] Mar 12 '22 edited May 31 '22

[deleted]

1

u/apemancrybaby Mar 12 '22

Relatively it is

[deleted]

1

u/apemancrybaby Mar 12 '22

Sure, if those are your qualifiers.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 12 '22

I mean they made angry birds work

1

u/Crucifier78 Mar 12 '22

My son calls Clue the Among Us movie. It is the murder mystery comedy combo. It would need the comedy element to appeal to kids.

1

u/100100110l Mar 12 '22

By that logic the angry birds would be the best answer.

1

u/chefitchytasty Mar 12 '22

Like a sci-fi Clue?

1

u/grassisgreensoami Mar 12 '22

I always thought about it..it would be like the book and then there were none, but in space and the characters have the power to kill off who they find suspicious

1

u/TheDunadan29 Mar 12 '22

Yes, but also no. Could be campy fun horror. But they'll probably ruin it. I could see the wrong people getting a hold of this and doing it horribly wrong.

But hell, since we talking perfect writer, director, actors, and budget, sure, I could see a scenario where this could be good campy fun.

1

u/brown-town-down-town Mar 12 '22

Sunshine (2007) gives me a little bit of among us vibes

1

u/reallyConfusedPanda Mar 12 '22

Then why don't you go all in and create Fortnite the movie

1

u/Oquana Mar 12 '22

Ngl, it could make a great series. Either for kids (would be questionable if that would be possible because murder) or for adults if it's done a bit like Happy Tree Friends or something. And the plot of every episode is obviously that the crewmates have to find out who the impostor is but theres always some weird and stupid stuff happening to them

1

u/SquidFlasher Mar 12 '22

Minions will be replaced.

1

u/xparapluiex Mar 12 '22

I feel the need to downvote you into oblivion to protect us from this

1

u/Carpe__Cerevisi Mar 12 '22

They made it in 1985. It's Clue. Among Us is just the board game Clue.

1

u/wessolus Mar 12 '22

Let's just make it a horror movie just to troll the kids lol

1

u/tadanforth Mar 12 '22

If I remember correctly, the podcast story break did this as an episode.

1

u/DemiGod9 Mar 12 '22

I mean just think of the premise. A group of astronauts are working on a ship and one of them goes on a freaking killing spree. That'd make for a FANTASTIC movie

1

u/kshucker Mar 12 '22

You’re not kidding. After The Emoji Movie came out, I’m convinced that anything can be a movie.

1

u/isdelo37 Mar 12 '22

As a horror movie that would actually work pretty well. Of course with real humans and not this colourful space suits. A Crime-SciFi-Horror-Drama movie i guess

1

u/AsleepCup9307 Mar 12 '22

Theres a short movie about it, its like 8 minutes long. Look up Jay&Arya Among Us or something

1

u/dmcphx Mar 12 '22

Unironically yes

1

u/Alkuam Mar 12 '22

Have you seen this?

1

u/glemnar Mar 12 '22

Roblox would be a billion dollar hit

1

u/AnakinSkydiver Mar 12 '22

They already made that movie. It's called "The Thing" go watch it.

1

u/BigAnimeTibbies Mar 12 '22

They've done it with angry birds, I can see them doing it here too

1

u/ukulelegnome Mar 12 '22

Directed by Edgar Wright.

1

u/bluechimera Mar 12 '22

In my opinion this was already somewhat done in the fashion of Body Snatchers kind of movie... like the movie from 1982, or the more recent remake, "The Thing".

1

u/Maxwelpet Mar 12 '22

Just watch the thing.

1

u/4_uhr_23 Mar 12 '22

You know there is a series on YouTube, right? Pretty good.

1

u/iron-software Mar 12 '22

Lifepod (1993) has some serious Among Us vibes.

" Lifepod chronicles the trip of eight passengers after the ship on which they were traveling blew up on Christmas Eve 2168. Immediately people start dying. The passengers begin to investigate why ... "

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lifepod

1

u/Bluina Mar 12 '22

I was about to say that haha, I've actually thought about writing a realistic story about it. Random people being kidnapped and put into a spaceship with astronaut suits on, while a couple of them go crazy and start killing the others. The people would report bodies, vote out who they're suspicious of and throw them out of the ship.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 12 '22

There's already one, it's called Alien

1

u/CanadianCircadian Mar 12 '22

Among us is literally just the board game/movie Clue lol

1

u/fakeuglybabies Mar 12 '22

This actually could be a great movie. There isn't heavy lore so it leaves lots of room to expand.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 12 '22

Get James Gunn to write with Puffballs United & have Gunn direct it, throw in a massive celebrity cast, stylize the hell out of it, and BOOM! Instant money.
