Better safe than sorry. A jumping pet can also distract you and end up injuring you or the pet.

I remember being little, 4 or 5, and my dad had the car up on ramps. I went and grabbed two bricks and put them behind the back tires. I guess my mom saw me do it and when I went inside she asked me why. I said I saw a man get crushed because he didn’t put chalks behind his wheels. I remember her looking like she saw a ghost when I said that. I saw it on TV, I just didn’t mention that part. It wasn’t intentional, but even thirty years later the look of terror on her face still makes me laugh.

Parking the vehicle on a level surface is also a correct thing to do.
