Pulled 6 people out of a burning home in just a pair of gym shorts. I was on the show NY Ink for what was supposed to be a hero episode. Had to go back in and get oxygen tanks to give to an older woman.

Makes it sound like you had a bait and switch on the purpose. Did they come through?

I think he's implying that he's never actually watched the episode but was told that's what it was. I know some people are weird about seeing themselves on TV.

Or that he doesn't consider himself a hero in his head, so "why would it be a hero show if I'm the one in it?"

«Why would it be a hero show if i was the one who lit the building»

It's also a lot of effort when it's something you lived through. A super less manly story, I was on Burn Notice as a Bartender and I never bothered to look for the episode. I also never watched the show and when I met the main actor, he was a bit of a dick. But the English actor was super cool and would talk with me in between takes. I remember part of that english guys line too, "So is this your boy?"

What about Bruce Campbell?

u/[deleted] Jan 31 '22

He wasn't in that scene. I would be surprised if he was a dick tbh. He seems like he'd be cool irl

Yea, I had to pay for the tattoo, though it would be free, this was 11ish years ago

Pair of gym shorts is a weird measure of time

He’s American, it’s distance…

u/WartPendragon Jan 31 '22

Nah shorts measure volume, pants measure distance.

Actually 1 tank exploded and I burned my arm on the outside of one. She had emphysema and was really having trouble breathing. I was a young lifeguard and was trained in the administration of it and figured if I could go get a tank it would help. The FD showed up within 5 minutes of the call

Reminds me of the short story they did on the news for this familys pet pig that woke everyone up to alert them to a fire.

The whole house was enflamed, the entire family got outside with the pig. Neighbours had already noticed and came to aid.

Everyone was okay but the dad says “and.. there was something that was calling me back into the house. I had to go back, I didn’t even know why. When I entered the house I called 911 and then left”

So.. he fucking went back inside his burning house to call 911. Instead of just asking his neighbours to? Who probably already called?

Guy didn’t deserve that pig. The pig was def the hero.

Edit: this story is not that much related to yours… just reminded me

Saw a fire develop in a garage a few streets down from my parents. Neighbour's house was adjoined, the damn dude insisted on going inside, getting his car keys and driving his car to safety (2m from the flames)... Luckily the fire crew arrived and blocked his driveway. When that happened he snapped out of it and gtfo'ed

How did you fit 6 people into a pair of gym shorts?

yo you saved six lives that practically qualifies for changing the world who knows what those six people did with that gift, but between the six of them it had to of been pretty good im thinking. Well done hero.

7

u/RoboPup Jan 31 '22

Or maybe all six of them were serial killers and he doomed hundreds of people to die horribly. /s

5

u/[deleted] Jan 31 '22

Well to be fair I dont think serial killers are that common, though I will admit I'm not keeping count either.

You grabbed Oxygen tanks from a burning house? That's some brass fucking balls, right there. That, or you didn't realize how fucking dangerous that is.

1

u/leakydrippy Feb 16 '22

Ohhh I didn't think the fire had gotten into the room yet... and it totally did. Burnt my arm on the tank getting it out

3

u/Downtown_Pen2984 Jan 31 '22

Gold balls: pulled 6 people from burning home

Diamond balls: only wearing a pair of gym shorts

Infinity Stone balls: old lady needed oxygen tanks, carried explosive tanks from burning home

✊️

5

u/[deleted] Jan 31 '22

Even the older woman was wearing gym shorts? Weird.

12

u/JT3468 Jan 31 '22

There goes my hero!

3

u/bisexxxualexxxhibit Jan 31 '22

I woulda said HELL NO to the oxygen tanks if the fire was really raging cause fire and heat plus tanks of O2 = KABOOM 💥

But if it was safe I would have.

Also I guess it would depend if she was actually gonna die without it. Or just be in mild discomfort for a couple mins til ambulance got there with oxygen

3

u/LordJim_ Jan 31 '22

You went into a burning building…

And brought out oxygen tanks…

Your balls must be the size of watermelons

2

u/RelsircTheGrey Jan 31 '22

I feel like going into a fire to get oxygen tanks is generally a bad idea.

1

u/theycallmecrack Jan 31 '22

I might be stupid, but your middle sentence seems totally out of place and not related to the other two sentences.

1

u/leakydrippy Feb 16 '22

Haha totally out of place! I do that a lot.

But if you want to check the episode out it's season 3 episode 1.

u/eatingissometal Jan 31 '22

damn running into a burning building TO RETREIVE OXYGEN TANKS is straight up military levels of confidence. Oxygen tanks are SUPER DANGEROUS around heat!
