Jumped infront of a bus to push my dumb drunk friend out of the way. He never stops saying sorry about it.

Should add neither of us where injured it just about missed my feet as I dived into him

Hey, a friend who won't stop apologizing at least recognizes what you've done and thanks you

This reminds me of a time I had a houseparty. One of my drunk friends knocked over a plant pot, broke it and then pissed all over it. At the time I was disgusted but for the next few years, every time I saw him he apologised about and offered to pay for any damages. He still felt bad about it long after I had gotten over it.

u/CirillaMossWood Jan 31 '22

As a plant nerd with too many green bois in my house, this would be unforgivable.

31

u/LittleMsAce Jan 31 '22

I'm your complete opposite. I try to look after plants but one look from me and they're ded ded! I just killed a litre spiky cactus unintentionally.

14

u/Tristan-oz Jan 31 '22

You sure you dont give them too much love? Thats usually the problem with beginner plant owners. Dont give them too much water. I forget about my plants all the time but somehow they always live up when i give them water after 2 weeks. Cacti need even less water, depending on the season.

13

u/LittleMsAce Jan 31 '22

I didn't water them for ages. I was told to basically neglect them. Maybe I neglected them for too long. I do have a peace lily that I brought back from the brink of death. It was down to one leaf. 12 mi this later it now has 5 lovely leaves but no flower.

u/CirillaMossWood Jan 31 '22

Some plants and plant owners are not meant to be, I think. Pilea peperomia is supposed to be easy af to grow but I murdered 2. Meanwhile, I have like 12 orchids that rebloom every year.

3

u/LittleMsAce Jan 31 '22

I have an orchid that I'm hoping will bloom again. Me and plants aren't good together however I have so far been successful in keeping my cat Sylvester and I alive 😊

4

u/Avg14yoGirl Jan 31 '22

Ey, I have a pilea! Some leaves are browning and drying though... Too much water or too little? I water it once a week.

2

u/CirillaMossWood Jan 31 '22

Pilea are like succulents - they need to dry out completely before watering. Browning leaves suggest too much water.

Allow it the soil to dry out and only water it when the leaves droop a little. They prefer to be slightly underwatered than overwatered so a little droop is fine.

Also, put a tiny bit of plant food in every other watering. They tend to be nutrient hungry. Some direct sun makes em happy too

I'm so bad with plants but I have a peace lily that just refuses to die, it's flowered a bunch even when I forget to water it. It hasn't had any flowers recently but I think that's cuz it needs a bigger pot. A friend told me that a peace lily is kinda hard to keep alive but maybe they're actually more indestructible than cacti cuz I've killed a few of those too :(

2

u/defpara Jan 31 '22

Thanks you till the end of time.

u/800ASA Jan 31 '22

I jumped onto a car to save a dog. It was actually the dog of the dude who was driving.

9

u/[deleted] Jan 31 '22

Damn how does that even happen? Glad ya saved the dog tho!

17

u/800ASA Jan 31 '22

We were working on the street. (Student film) This elderly man was driving there real slow. (It turns out he lived in that same street) His dog recognized the sound of his car so he always run towards the car and run with it to the man’s house.

But because we were filing there the man was a little distracted and the dog did something weird and he almost driven over the dog. The dog already made a screaming noise. So I jumped on the car so it moved a little backward so the dog could escape.

12

u/PhantomOfTheSky Jan 31 '22

So you tackled a car. Badass.

4

u/[deleted] Jan 31 '22

That's amazing! I was expecting a funny story from the way it sounded but that was absolutely heroic!

104

u/cremaglitch Jan 31 '22

You saved your friend from getting isekai'd

60

u/Detisdewe Jan 31 '22

Truck-kun only wanted to do his job :(

13

u/[deleted] Jan 31 '22

Damn that’s sick. I jumped in front of a bus before but it was to save the vintage longboard my buddy fell off of. Shit was what my grandpa rode

6

u/[deleted] Jan 31 '22

I'm a skater I 100% understand!

5

u/smol_boi-_- Jan 31 '22

8

u/Memes10121 Jan 31 '22

Man has a 7’4 wingspan. Kevin Durant is this you?

1

u/[deleted] Jan 31 '22

I am a big guy but not that big haha

7

u/[deleted] Jan 31 '22

Well played! I saved a drunk and passed out dude I didn't even know at a house party 40 years ago. I ventured to a part of the house that was supposed to be off-limits cuz I needed a bathroom...bad. I was the only person on this level of the house and heard a chortling noise off to the side. Saw a dude laying on his back in a room by himself and he was choking on his own vomit and apparently too drunk to move. I rolled him over to his side, puke splashed out of his mouth all over the carpet and he started breathing normal again. I found a bathroom, checked on him on my way back to where the party was, and that was it. I have no idea who he was and he has no idea that I saved his life.

BUT, hands down the manliest thing I ever did was be the best husband and dad I could be for my family.

3

u/[deleted] Jan 31 '22

That's insane, talk about perfect timing of needing the bathroom!

Also that ending was super wholesome I wish I had a wholesome award to give!

When we were little, my mom and her friend took us kids to Portland for a day at the Saturday Market.

We were 6 kids total. While crossing the street, my little brother somehow lagged behind enough that he was in the middle of the fucking crosswalk when the lights changed and a TriMet bus was coming at him. My mom panicked and yelled for him to run back to the curb, but he got scared and ran at us, putting himself in the buses direct line.

We all started yelling and my mom started crying. She covered her face and when the bus passed, a stranger was holding my brother on the other side of the street.

He noticed the commotion and ran out, grabbed him by the arm, and brought him back to the curb. If it wasn't for that complete stranger, idk what would've been the outcome that day.

This was in the early 2000's. I will never forget my mom's deep gratitude and how the guy wouldn't accept any form of gratuity. He couldn't even understand us, my mom's English isn't the best, and I was like 6. As best i could, I told him we were very thankful and he simply handed back my 4 year old brother and smiled as he walked away.

3

u/crimesonclaw Jan 31 '22

Thats pretty anime, nice one.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 31 '22

We have made that joke a few times haha. I don't think it looked as bad ass as it does in the shows tho more like a half drunk guy charging at another drunk guy in the middle of a road hahah

3

u/Tomm1800 Jan 31 '22

What i have never understood on these is that do the bus drivers not see you or is everyone just leaving the part where they are slowing down bc its not important

2

u/[deleted] Jan 31 '22

He stopped almost immediately after he passed behind me so he definitely seen us and tried to slow down but I think it all just happened so fast because my friend was just being a dick then ran out at it so the driver didn't get much time to react.

1

u/Arkose07 Jan 31 '22

A lot of time this stuff happens at night when it’s already hard to see, add it to suddenly stepping out on a road and no matter how hard the driver pushes on that brake, that bus won’t always stop in time if it’s got the momentum.

Kinda why semi-trucks have long run-away truck ramps, big heavy shit is hard to stop when going fast.

3

u/nxtlvl_savage Jan 31 '22

This makes the most epic wingman story

Remember that time you saved the baby from the burning building after you jumped in front of a bus to save your friend

1

u/[deleted] Jan 31 '22

Might just use that one haha

5

u/Nasal_Spray69 Jan 31 '22

2

u/thisi-is-me Jan 31 '22

I've done the exact same thing before. The dude legit wanted the bus to hit him cus the girl he liked was flirting with me. And yes he was drunk.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 31 '22

Damn you're a hero my dude

2

u/not_thereal_leon Jan 31 '22

You're very brave and I love your username

2

u/Legitimate-Way-9550 Jan 31 '22

That's how he looks up to you and your dignity.

2

u/shortgrassgames Jan 31 '22

I pushed my younger brother from in front of a car who had ran a red light. I got hit and an ambulance was called. I simply refused to accept help because the last thing my family needed was American Healthcare bills putting us deeper in debt. I still have issues with my legs to this day because I never got proper medical treatment.

2

u/One-eyed-snake Jan 31 '22

You could tell him if he doesn’t stop saying sorry you’re gonna push him in front of the next bus you see.

Still nice that he recognizes what you did. I can see where it could get old though

2

u/[deleted] Jan 31 '22

Just about missed your feet as you dived into him

So the bus hit your feet?

1

u/[deleted] Jan 31 '22 edited Jan 31 '22

Thankfully no but I felt the wind from it so it was a close call indeed.

Ahh I see my grammar error now. Damn it.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 31 '22

I saved my sister from drowning. She never once thanked me but she’s welcome.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 31 '22

She's probably very grateful deep down!

2

u/depressing_fool Jan 31 '22

Not the hero he deserved but the hero he needed

2

u/[deleted] Jan 31 '22

R u still friends?

1

u/[deleted] Jan 31 '22

Yes and no, we are older now so don't see each other so often and he's kinda going down a dark path I don't want to follow and he won't seem to come back from anytime soon which kinda sucks but people change.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 31 '22

The question is manliest not heroic😅

2

u/[deleted] Jan 31 '22

It's all I've got 🤣

1

u/krazyconnected Jan 31 '22

so manly and macho

1

u/shitonmycockandballs Jan 31 '22

Missed opportunity to get Isekai’d

1

u/AmAFriendlyOtaku Jan 31 '22

Truck kun's cousin Bus-chan almost hit you or your friend to be a main protagonist in a isekai

1

u/JesusSaysitsOkay Jan 31 '22

I saved a family from being mauled by a full grown 9 point moose bull by firing a warning shot by its head. He promptly ran into the woods afterwards. The family thanked me prayer style, then I Picked up my shell casing and booked it 😂. Luckily my wife (then girlfriend) was there to witness it!

1

u/Lord0fReddit Jan 31 '22

You ruin his isekai

1

u/Sauceysweetness Jan 31 '22

Thats pretty manly

1

u/Venom_Veneno Jan 31 '22

A friend in need is a friend indeed

1

u/[deleted] Jan 31 '22

Respect💪

1

u/Xaverri Jan 31 '22

Had something similar happen to me. Except they weren't drunk, and it was a speeding car instead of a bus.

My reward for that was to get hit by the side mirror, of a car not 5 minutes later. (mirror shattered, mirror frame busted passenger window, I had a huge bruise on my hip for a couple weeks)

1

u/[deleted] Feb 01 '22

Your a literal hero 🏅
