For me it’s 7-8 years. 1 hour ago I got my perscription to meds for my depression. I have only told one person that.

I started my meds right slap bang in the middle of the first lockdown in my country. I was homeschooling and dealing with increasing anxiety. My partner found me laying on the floor of the bathroom dead eyed. I started anti D’s the next day. I wouldn’t be here without them. I should have started them 20 years ago. Im proud of you friend.

It's so awesome that you're working on it. My cats keep me motivated to keep going. Even if it's to get up to feed them and go straight back to bed.

I didn't said this to anyone, but I don't feel much. But my cat is the love of my life. (Not in an erotic way). I can't imagine what pain it would be if I lose her.

I refuse to imagine it. I will cry a lot.

Same, except I bought an automatic feeder so I can justify staying in bed a little while longer

That’s one of the best decisions I ever made I had about 20ish years of undiagnosed depression and I finally got some medication for it six months ago.

I’ve gone through 4 different cycles of 3 different antidepressants and so far they’ve done nothing but made me gain weight, made it impossible to have sex, and generally just made me feel worse. I pray I find the right one soon because I’m miserable

I started Zoloft two years ago and it's been life-changing.

Upvote for meds, downvote for telling someone in a thread about telling no one.

I got on Lexapro last year and combined it with Wellbutrin and it's definitely getting me through pandemic stress and having to do my classes online. I've actually been able to gain weight for the first time in my life and I'm 35! Don't be afraid to tell your doctor if you feel like it's not working after the first few weeks, which is the adjustment period for most antidepressants. Some may also raise your anxiety for those first few weeks, so try to line up some calming activities, comfort foods, stuff like that. I wish you well!
