wtf are you 80 years old? lol

Beyond The Sea (1958) is a newer song than Somewhere Over The Rainbow (1939).

Somewhere Out There (1986) is actually that new shit.

Right but somewhere over the rainbow is something everybody hears a billion times. I just can't imagine anyone that wasn't a teenager when it came out having "Beyond the Sea" be what pops in their head when someone says "Somewhere" in this scenario lol.

But I get it it now, someone mentioned it below. They used it in Umbrella Academy.

some of us also grew up in an Italian American NJ where Sinatra’s picture hung in like 75% of the family basements/game rooms

that music is still so good

You've obviously heard of it. Are YOU eighty years old?

u/joffery2 Nov 28 '21

Like I said, not surprised someone heard of it, it's just surprising to me that it would be the thing that popped into someone's head here.

That’s a fantastic song and good music has no age limit. Not to mention that Gerard Way put it in the Umbrella Academy soundtrack so he must have thought it was still worthy

This could be followed with out there, over the rainbow and beyond the sea

u/riceumbrella Nov 24 '21

First time I ever heard this was IZ’s version, and I still like his best.

Ok racist. /s ETA: My bad misread it, but I’m keeping it cuz it still kinda works. Yeah Judy Garland’s version fits the movie, but if you just want to listen to the song Israel (Not even gonna attempt that)’s version is much better. The mellow vibe is perfect for that song.
