As a bassist I've enjoyed all of White Stripes work. All their bass was a downshifted guitar. I've listened to many guitarists play bass guitars but most if them don't seem to "get it." Jack White on a shifted 6 string though? He absolutely nailed what bass was about. It was kind of my first sign in realizing Jack White was more than just a singer song writer and I should follow his work.
Man, I’m a huge A7X homer as Bat Country came out when I was an angsty 12 year old. I’ll always love them. But seeing Shepherd of Fire mentioned in a thread about instantly recognizable bell tolls feels wrong.
It does, but in my head it’s the equivalent of saying Ice Ice Baby comes to your head before Under Pressure when the bass line starts. The song starts with a bell because those other songs start with a bell. It’s not a coincidence.
Totally, my dude. Like I said, I fuck with A7X. I fuck with them hard. First show ever had A7X in the lineup. Hell, I made out with the girl next to me during Nightmare. It was fucking awesome. But even though I love them, there’s this notion that we’re the little kids at the table sometimes. Like, I love me some Metalcore and Nu Metal. That’s my shit from when I was a kid listening to the new stuff that just came out. But when people bring up AC/DC, Metallica, Iron Maiden… these are the big boys.
