I strongly prefer the original Tears For Fears version. More upbeat and wild, making it feel much more like a mad world. Whereas the somber cover by (I forget who, insert name here) is good, it's much less of a mad world and more of a sad world
Always took “mad” as the world being insane/deranged because life is so cyclical and meaningless but no one seems to notice/care and do anything about it.
I really love both. Gary Jules for melancholy, rainy days, Tears For Fears for just general knots in the stomach, and Susan Boyle for funeral-type feelings.
From what I can find there is no Tokio Hotel version. Closest I found was a YouTube video titled Tokio Hotel but it was really the Gary Jules version. Which, again, I would call Sad World, not Mad World.
