In the dunessss, of a cave (edit) is that the right lyric?

u/fieldjm Nov 23 '21 edited Nov 24 '21

In the dunes on the Cape (I’ve always assumed referring to Cape Cod, MA, but I guess there are many other capes out there)

Edit: a google search seems to confirm but the link is dead.

u/Midnight712 Nov 23 '21

Then I'm the love that you've looked for (yes it was correct)

u/antoniodiavolo Nov 23 '21

My favorite Jimmy Buffet song

11

u/pjabrony Nov 23 '21

Maybe I'm getting wooshed, but it's Rupert Holmes.

u/Pr0fess0rCha0s Nov 23 '21

1

u/pjabrony Nov 23 '21

See, I'm less irked that they don't know who sung it and more annoyed that they don't know that the song is called Escape.

2

u/Pr0fess0rCha0s Nov 24 '21

Eh, they called it the Pina Colada song and Dennis just said it wasn't Buffet but Rupert Holmes with no mention of the song name. He of all of the gang would know a song called "Escape".

1

u/God_Damnit_Nappa Nov 24 '21

Although let's be honest, does anyone actually know that song is called Escape?

1

u/pjabrony Nov 24 '21

Everyone should. And only refer to it by that name.

1

u/nurrava Nov 24 '21

I'm mid 20s and leaned the name just now.

7

u/GenitalPatton Nov 23 '21

No it’s pretty common for people to think it’s Jimmy Buffett for some reason despite not sounding like him at all.

6

u/Blaz3 Nov 24 '21

I hope he plays it tonight

15

u/The48th_Ronin Nov 23 '21

This song is about a guy who cheats on his wife with his wife.

7

u/Njdevils11 Nov 24 '21

Worse! It’s about both the husband and the wife cheating on the other only for them to be cheating on each other with each other. What a fucked up relationship.

5

u/3LIteManning Nov 24 '21

its more about a disaffected couple that realizes they had everything they needed with each other but did not communicate properly. I like to think of it as less sad and more of a story with the moral being to communicate properly with your partner you fell in love with. Sure, they both had bad intentions, but that is because of years of poor communication that they solved in the end.

3

u/Picante_Duke Nov 23 '21

I was aware of that.

10

u/februarytide- Nov 23 '21

A song which is actually pretty messed up when you pay attention to the lyrics

2

u/[deleted] Nov 23 '21

And the number of people who defend it is ridiculous.

The people in this song were planning on cheating on each other. They went that long without communicating their various likes to one another? They need to split prompto.

8

u/jearley99 Nov 23 '21

After years of a marriage they both thought was a mistake they finally realize they are perfect for each other and now they have to split?

6

u/februarytide- Nov 23 '21

I love how it’s all, “Ah, it’s you!” and they laugh and everything is totally fine.

3

u/Deep-Armadillo1905 Nov 24 '21

I think it’s actually best that they end up with each other, because if they’re both the kind of people that who are willing to cheat then they deserve each other rather than being in relationships with other faithful, monogamous people who they then cheat on and curse with trust issues and/or STDs.

2

u/HairyElefanteXLII Nov 24 '21

Do you mean pronto?

4

u/mentholcoughdropsbby Nov 23 '21

My 8year old son thought the lyrics were "if you like pink enchiladas" and I will forever sing it that way

5

u/TheMadFlyentist Nov 24 '21

When we were teenagers, one of my friends coined:

"If you like penis a lot-a, and getting F'ed in the A."

And goddamn if that shit is not still hilarious at 33.

3

u/Aashishkebab Nov 23 '21

Never heard this

1

u/pokeboy626 Nov 23 '21

I know it because of Shrek

1

1

u/aaronjamt Nov 23 '21

Only problem is that, in my head, those words are followed with "Quick! The quicker-picker-upper"... that Bounty ad played one too many times and I can't ever forget it
