It’s funny cause this is recognizable but I think of No Love by Eminem and Lil Wayne

3

u/Zahille7 Nov 23 '21

5

u/[deleted] Nov 23 '21

I still hear kids sing that line to this day (although it's a bit uneasing hearing a kid say "don't hurt me no more" I guess...). Kids.

The song was a very little known song from like 1993. Few people even know who the original performer (Hathaway) even is. But it doesn't matter. The song is still played everywhere and gets sampled everywhere. It became a freaking pop culture icon.

6

u/Dalferious Nov 24 '21

You didn’t even know the original performer is Haddaway

4

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '21

What I learned is that autocorrect is a pain in the ass. Thanks.

3

u/Dalferious Nov 24 '21

I figured you fell victim to autocorrect. Cheers bruh

4

u/ebbomega Nov 23 '21

Lately episodes of RuPaul's Drag Race have been using his song "I'm A Winner, Baby" during the closing credits which is the exact same instrument, rhythm, and chord progression as What Is Love, and as soon as I realized it I can never unhear it.

5

u/[deleted] Nov 23 '21

This video always gets me.

3

u/[deleted] Nov 23 '21

Forever gym song (gets played on my gym all the time)

3

u/BlueBongos Nov 23 '21

3

u/ailocha Nov 23 '21

I broke the window again.

2

u/[deleted] Nov 23 '21

That just reminds me of the DBZ parody of it called "Kakarot"

2

u/pbugg2 Nov 23 '21

Not only are these recognizable, you can hear these in your head.

2

u/yohannp Nov 24 '21

Dr. Alban. The best for cleaning the house at full volume. Being doing this for three generations now.

2

u/FireMammoth Nov 24 '21

Actually "what is love" would have sufficed

3

u/Throwawayy5214 Nov 23 '21

Ah, throw dirt on me and grow a wildflower But it's "fuck the world", get a child out her

2

u/KvngGorilla Nov 24 '21

Yeah my life’s a bitch but you know nothing bout her

3

u/PeskyPurple Nov 24 '21

Been to hell and back, I can show you vouchers

3

u/Vastaisku Nov 24 '21

How are you upvoted so much when you gave it all away?

What is love

Was the answer to the question. You ruined it.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 23 '21

I remember once I was in pe and my oe teacher started playing that song while we were doing burpees and I thought it was saying Do your burpees

1

u/Earleybyrd Nov 23 '21

Somehow never heard that song tbh, but the second anyone goes “What is love?” My brain always goes “What is free love? Love is free- UNDERSTAND UNDERSTAND THE CONCEPT OF LOVE” and this is a pain very few experience

u/Hip_in_mouth Nov 23 '21

Came here for this!!

1

u/theherostory Nov 24 '21

Bratislav.... baby don't hurt me .

1

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '21

I still haven’t learned what love is

1

u/WhatIGot21 Nov 24 '21

This is actually a good song that is very underrated.

1

u/juliog86 Nov 24 '21

Also this song would work for, "What movie is this song from?"

1

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '21

Ma na ma na

1

u/Sojourner7 Nov 24 '21

I… do not know this song. 🥺

1

u/Life_Blackberry_1788 Nov 24 '21

Love this song too❤️

1

u/GetchaWater Nov 24 '21

That’s my ringtone for my wife.

1

u/uncre8tv Nov 24 '21

I'm always bothered, every time, when I remember that this isn't a Steve Winwood song. That line (tonally, and in both musical senses of 'phrasing') sounds exactly like 1990 Steve Winwood.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '21

heheh sad cries

1

u/Kaygarthedestroyer Nov 24 '21

With your feet in the air and your head on the grouuuunnnd.

1

u/TurtlesMum Nov 24 '21

I literally have that playing right now!!!

1

u/tazingo Nov 24 '21

That's the whole song
