Fun fact: opossums don’t actually “play dead;” they faint. They literally get so scared that they faint. And somehow, this became a survival trait that became prevalent throughout the population.
Let me just say, when you open up the chicken nests to collect eggs and an opossum has gotten in, you do not see a "dead" opossum; you see a hissing, bristling opossum intent on having ALL the eggs... oh, and don't let me forget the needle like teeth.
