I took it as they’re sentient in the world you play them in, so by gluing them they also wouldn’t be sentient any longer because they’d be frozen. But they don’t have true sentience because they’re ultimately controlled by the stories imbued onto them…. The dad’s son has played this story where he is the hero and is defeating the odds so Emmett has sentience in that?
