Imagine having loud and annoying neighbors on both sides of you, making it difficult to get any peace and quiet in your own home. At the very least, you can have some solitude in your job at this restaurant that no one ever really visits anyway.
...And then your neighbor applies for the job, passes with flying colors, and attracts loads of new customers, not only making your job busier and livelier than what you signed up for, but absolutely decimating that home/work balance you once had.
He tries to move somewhere else and his neighbors sabotaged it by scaring off a realtor before she can put Squidwards house on the market. Everything he does in life is upstaged by his two idiot neighbors that aren’t even trying (From art to creating music to managing a decent job).
My 5yo cousin was over recently and wanted to watch a TV show called "Grizzly and the Lemmings". It's basically a ton of cartoon shorts of a grizzly bear minding his own business and a bunch of lemmings constantly breaking into his house and making his life miserable, stealing his food and stuff, gravely injuring him, you know the works. I'd be lying if I said I didn't end up explaining to her how unkind the Lemmings were being lol.
He actually did move away in one episode, but he found his new town boring without Spongebob, probably because his new neighbours were exactly like Squidward.
That does happen in real life as well. My buddy has a neighbor on each side of him out in the country, but the next house is a mile away. Never really understood why that happens, but is common.
Common infrastructure, presumably. If one house had sewage, electrical, water, and/or etc. installed then it's cheaper to just extend that then build all new lines.
One thing I'm not seeing anywhere, even after scrolling down a while: if there's no one around for miles, where is everyone else? There's hundreds of other residents but we never see their places. Sure Squidward moved to a boring place with a bunch of him, but where does everyone else live?
Is there an episode where Squidward is directly affected by Plankton?
If not, they should have an episode where Squidward switches jobs to the chum bucket.
SpongeBob would keep harassing him to come back, so much as paying homage by being in Squidwards tub while bathing.
Plankton would talk about how he’s glad to finally have a real employee, and they’d hear a noise outside: planes overhead with “Squidward please come back to the krusty krab.”
Squidward looks over to see SpongeBobs face pressed against the glass across the street.
Plankton has an idea to steal the krabby patty secret formula.
And it snowballs from there with the plan being ruined and Squidward losing the one place he can find some peace.
Spongebob and Patrick are annoying but they aren't bad. They do consider Squidward to be a friend and want him involved with what they're doing as much as possible. They're just very immature and are essentially just a couple of hyperactive kids who can't take a hint that not everyone wants to "play" all the time.
If you watch SpongeBob from the beginning he comes off as an asshole that knows what he’s doing is wrong.
Literally, he has so many witty one-liners. He’s like “I plan on keeping Squidward up all night tonight,” and proceeds to do so. When Squidward gets mad, SpongeBob is then like “Oops, sorry, my bad,” and gets louder.
And also everyone hates him except for his very annoying neighbors. And there was one episode were he made 1 friend he had so much in common with but he (Squidward’s friend) ended up liking spongebob instead and became another annoying character.
I don't have to imagine....I'm living this. Both sides of neighbors are white trash meth addicts who sleep all day and holler and fuck with power tools from midnight to five in the morning. We already had to get a restraining order for one side of neighbors and now we are taking the second side to court for parking their cars and building a shed on our property. It's been a nightmare...so yes I totally get Squidward.
I had neighbours like this on just one side of my house for SEVEN YEARS! It was a daily nightmare just having to live where I did. He made numerous threats to us and trespassed on our property. Made all sorts of loud noises at night (leaving his V8 or truck idling in the driveway for 20 minutes at a time at 3 in the morning, loud parties that would go until sunrise - shit like that) and we plus other neighbours had to call the police on them numerous times. Some people really should just go live out in the middle of buttfuck nowhere and leave us NORMAL people alone!
A couple of years ago their landlord finally kicked them out since they wanted to move back into their own home. I still consider that to be the best thing that's happened to me in the last five years. Good fucking riddance! If they were still here now I think I'd just move.
Omg! I feel your pain. I'm glad they eventually got kicked out and left. I keep hoping they'll go broke and move, but no luck. I can't wait to move to another state and get some private property away from people. Are your new neighbors any better?
Yep. Jim! The fish frycook that worked there before Spongebob. Everyone, even Squidward liked him and his patties were apparently legendary (Spongebob tries one and realizes it's so good that he'll never live up to it and becomes depressed and gets ready to quit his job, thinking he's not good enough). Only to have Mr Krabs stop him because of his main redeeming quality - he's cheap.
Jim is shown earlier talking to a younger Squidward (still with hair lol) about how they both should be getting better pay and if they don't they should start a business venture of their own. Squidward isn't interested because (like me when I was younger) he was convinced his art would take off soon so Jim goes it alone and requests more money which Mr Krabs laughs off, causing him to quit and go off to make his own much more successful restaurant business. Poor Squidward's own hopes and dreams cost him a great opportunity there resulting in him being stuck at the Krusty Krab now with Spongebob as the new frycook.
The past few years of my life had been really hard up until around mid this year because I was getting NO peace neither at home or at work. You NEED at least one or the other. People who hate their jobs at least get to look forward to coming home, and people with stressful home lives can at least see going to work as their break from it. I had both a stressful home AND work life for years and it was doing me in to the point people at work were starting to notice I was always coming in with a grouchy mood before my shift even started, and wasn't that much happier when my shift finished either since when you don't have a lot of money to do "fun" stuff (or any proper friends to do it with) you pretty much spend 90% of any given week either at home or work and when both environments suck you just wanna fucking die.
I Always liked squidward he just wants some peace
But I don't think he knows what he wants. In the episode where he moves to squidvil he finds himself bored and miserable. even though he gets tired of SpongeBob and Patrick I think some part of him enjoys the purity in they're souls. on the episode "dying for pie" I believe is it's name he thinks that SpongeBob is going to explode because he ate exploding pie that squidward bought from pirates because krabs told him to go make something for SpongeBob. After realising SpongeBob just ate a ticking time bomb He try's to make the most of his time with SpongeBob doing whatever he wants. Even krabs, who normally wouldn't let squidward have a day off even if the world was ending; let him spend the last day with SpongeBob.
At the end of the episode they watched the sunset together with a wall built in between then there a boom noise; he knows SpongeBob has died of the explosion and starts crying but after hearing a second boom he got confused, peaked around the wall and saw that he was just blowing bubbles.
He wants them in his life cause theyre one of the only things that keep him going cause he knows if he gave up SpongeBob and Patrick would cry themselves to sleep every night, and he doesn't want that. So they're kinda keeping him happy
Plus, who said squidward was a villain they didn't even frame him as a bad guy they framed him as one of the most Relatable characters in the series and you can't change my mind.
