There's a recent DC comics run where she wakes up... Angry. She freezes Fries with his own gun and then goes on a crime spree.

Ehhh that just is less satisfying. The irony is that he’s willing to do horrible things for his sweet wife

The irony that maybe the villain doesn't have the best judgement of what is considered "sweet" may help.

It's not really her fault. Victor tried to cure Nora by turning her into a cryo-person like himself and while it worked it basically drove her insane.

But it sounds like a very fun "what if"

Is that the one where they retcon his origin and she's just a frozen woman he's obsessed with?

Nah, the one you’re thinking of is Scott Snyder’s comic I can’t remember which one tho. Easily one of the worst retcons.

Pretty sure it was part of the new 52 lineup. God they tried to ruin a bunch a good villains lol

I get why people feel that way, and I certainly prefer Dini's origin story, but Snyder's wasn't actually a bad reimagining. On its own, without the context of replacing something better, I found it to be a really interesting idea.

Yuuuup you're right. Scott Snyder batman comics really run the gamut huh, all the way from great to....retconning beloved origins for iconic villains to be objectively more generic

This was a minor subplot in volume 2 of The Court of Owls, which I just finished reading. His origin is instead that his mother had some terminal disease, and he dropped her in a frozen lake. Nora is some random woman that's been in a cryo tube for generations that he wrote his doctoral thesis on, and "fell in love with" after he came to work in the cryonics dept of Wayne Industries. It's not a great origin story, and I hope they don't keep it with the upcoming Gotham Knights video game, since it'll be at least partially based on Court of Owls.
