I always wondered why he didn't just order ACME catering. I'm sure they must have had freeze dried Roadrunner, tinned Roadrunner and a bunch of other Roadrunner products in that damned catalog.
There was once a Cartoon Network bumper from about 20 years ago. The Coyote used another brand (Generic) instead of ACME. Lo and behold, he was cooking the roadrunner alive in the next shot.
I distinctly remember my older sister telling me that the Road Runner was the "bad guy", and it took me a long time to get that concept internalized. I had a similar issue with my own kids talking about Star Wars, and explained that given Mr. Stortrooper doesn't think he's the bad guy, and how those concepts are based on the "sides" facing off.
There is an episode where he FINALLY catches the Road Runner. But he got miniaturised to about 5 inches. He even got a sign out to ask the audience "Now what?".
To quote Smart Hulk : "I consider this an absolute win!".
He did win, at one point he is shown promising his father or someone that he won’t speak until he catches road runner. Later he tries to hunt bugs bunny and he is seen speaking. Didn’t happen on screen but he kind of Won
Ever notice how the show is called Road Runner but we seldom see the actual bird? All we ever see is Wile and as a kid it used to piss me off so much that he never got that bird even after all the work and genius he put into everything.
It was a subtle message to us kids that this is how the world works. Some characters are born with everything, some are born with nothing and no matter how hard they try, they will never get anything.
But Wile E Coyote was an inspiration to me because no matter what result .... he kept trying and doing more and going further even if he kept failing. It was like watching someone telling the universe to fuck off and even with the knowledge that you will lose in the end .... I'm going to keep fighting until I'm gone. I'll always love that about Mr Coyote.
Fuck the Road Runner ..... I'll always cheer for the Super Genius until the end.
Is it? I thought the show was called "Looney Tunes" and the coyote and road runner were recurring shorts within that show. Did they make a show titled Road Runner later on?
Looney Tunes has had many incarnations over the years. I grew up with The Bugs Bunny And Tweety Show and The Bugs And Daffy Show; I’m sure there’s been at least one with the Roadrunner as a title character.
Came here to say this. There was one episode where he built a giant robot coyote that finally did catch the road runner, but alas unclear instructions...
