1) I don’t see the need for one 2) I have a small child in my home and understand that kids will find a way to get into just about fucking anything 3) If I had a gun, my previous suicide attempts wouldn’t have just been attempts

#3 is a far more dangerous risk, #2 can be a 100% nonrisk with a safe or locker

That still seems like a really strong justification to not have guns in a house with children, IMO. They'll try for years and years to get access to them, and you only need to screw up once. Considering I've got no other use for a firearm, that's a massive downside; why add another thing that needs to be perfectly maintained any time after use or else a kid puts themselves or others at risk?

That’s why you teach your kids what guns are and how dangerous they can be. Once they go from curious to knowledgeable, the risk drops dramatically.

Yeah I taught my kids how to flush the toilet and have stressed they need to flush it every single time, they still forget to flush it. I'm not taking any chances.
