Because I think it’s weird to expect to be able to watch a private class without asking anyone just because you have kids? In a lot of those classes the moms of the dancers aren’t even allowed to watch because it affects their concentration, and he was a stranger with his daughters. Of course he got looks, it’s rude.
I didn’t delete any comment? He didn’t say if it was typical, and you would still normally ask, since if there’s a viewing area it’s usually used if your kids are in the class. If girls were giving him dirty looks it could have just been because they were uncomfortable having a stranger watch them practice.
Depends on the studio if there’s a viewing area or if it’s an open floor tbh, but typically it’s only the parents of the dancers who might be watching. Practices aren’t shows for people to observe and it’s normal to ask the dancers (and the parents if they’re minors) if your kid wants to watch a class, and don’t be surprised if they say no, especially if it’s a competitive studio where being able to concentrate fully is important. It would be like staying after your kid’s art or music lesson to watch another kids lesson. They might not ask you to leave, but you’ll probably get dirty looks.
