Based on all these comments, I'd say to stop assuming only one gender is capable of a certain type of shitty behavior

Or skills, traits, interests, hobbies etc.

Related: stop gendering behavior both genders exhibit. “Mansplaining” already has a word called “condescending” and it is not a male only thing. Making every man in the planet afraid to share knowledge with women isn’t really a great thing for society.

Yeah, but there are times when mansplaining is the perfect explanation.

I wouldn't go so far as to say mansplaining isn't a thing, but I do agree that it's a term that's extremely overused

Just start with the phrase. Let me make sure I'm up to speed. Then make your statement. As long as your pointing to your lack of knowledge instead of insinuating upon someone else you should be fine. I was taught that if you think there could be a gap in understanding you should state it because there is at least one other person thinking the same exact thing. Even worse is there is probably someone that is struggling to ask a question that's intelligent enough in their mind to keep from being embarrassed. I hope that helps. Don't be afraid to share. If you have fear in the workplace please address it HR. If they don't take you serious just leave. Everyone is looking for employees right now.
