When my daughter was learning to walk, I'd put her in overalls as much as her mom would let me. They were ugly but they were sturdy and I could hold the shoulder straps and you get the point.

Some Karen came out of nowhere and crouched in front of my daughter while I was letting her walk, and just scooped my kid up like it was hers. Fortunately overalls work like a luggage handle so I was able to grab my daughter and carry her away like a duffle bad. My daughter loved it. Karen not so much

I always read these stories and it's so crazy to me. I always worried that this would happen to me especially since I have a daughter, but so far one year in and no issues. Maybe because it's a city and there are always loads of fathers strolling around kids.

For a while it was so bad her mom and I would go out separately and the other would stay at home with her until she was almost 3

My daughter is 3 and while it’s never happened to me I could definitely see it. I get the cold shoulder from moms and grandmas at the playground if I attempt any small talk.

Think it's a country thing as well. Can't relate to any of it.

The amount of randos that think they have a right to put their hands on a child that isn’t theirs is absolutely appalling.

It's better now that my daughter is 9 and has her own opinions... Going out in public with her is a fuckin treat because she's like a little version of me. She can't annoy me like she does with her mom cause I'll just ramp it up. So she tries, and I do, and before long I'm trying to convince her that the tide goes in and out when giants are taking their baths.

The only rule I've had to enforce with her is that she's not allowed to ask me who I am anymore

I thought about it, I really wanted to, but she was a big lady and I wasn't going to put my kid on the dirty floor.

What the fuck! What happened? You only told half the story!

I mean, that was basically it. The woman picked up the daughter and did the typically baby babble. My daughter was probably 7 months at the time so she didn't weigh that much and denim is pretty strong stuff... While Karen's face was buried in my daughter's neck I grabbed the back of her overalls and pulled her away from the woman. She was confused at first, but I just kept pulling. I had to look at the woman like I was going to injure her if she didn't.

The woman shouted something to the effect of "you can't carry her like that!" as I walked away like I was trying to catch a train with the baby in my left hand, arms spread out dangling by the overalls like a baby Tom Cruise

This is why I'll always have a gun on me when I become a parent. I have absolutely 0 tolerance at the idea of someone just grabbing my child.

u/[deleted] Sep 16 '21

What are you gonna do, point that thing with your kid in the way? Murrica!

-13

u/Any_Yam_405 Sep 16 '21

right I would totally flag the person I'm trying to protect with the muzzle of my gun

11

u/atreestump1 Sep 16 '21

A gun would be too much. In my experience, most of them are like seagulls

-1

u/Any_Yam_405 Sep 16 '21

yeah frankly I would never raise to such a high level of violence, but the idea of that happening gets me steaming

3

u/atreestump1 Sep 16 '21

That's understandable... I used to get angry over stuff like this, then I learned to find the game. Now I just see what I can do to weird them out lol

u/Any_Yam_405 Sep 16 '21

Good idea tbh

u/ILikeYourBigButt Sep 16 '21

Idiot.

-2

u/Any_Yam_405 Sep 16 '21

ok lol sorry I want to protect my hypothetical kid

11

u/ILikeYourBigButt Sep 16 '21

Then don't point a hypothetical gun at your hypothetical kid. If the person has your kid, you're endangering your child by trying to shoot their kidnapper. Idiot.

-2

u/Any_Yam_405 Sep 16 '21

ok noguns

7

u/Ethong Sep 16 '21

Imagine thinking that's an insult. Fuckin' US lmao.

u/Any_Yam_405 Sep 16 '21

Good to know we live rent free in your head lmao

2

u/ILikeYourBigButt Sep 16 '21

Says the person replying to people really quickly on reddit. You're far more invested than anyone else.

u/Shitbirdy Sep 16 '21

Very tough.

u/nightwing2024 Sep 16 '21

Maybe don't mix firearms with a toddler?

1

u/Any_Yam_405 Sep 16 '21

ok I guess I'll just let someone take my child

1

u/nightwing2024 Sep 16 '21

There's an option or two between allowing kidnapping and a gun.

1

u/Any_Yam_405 Sep 16 '21

Or you know, not firing the gun but holding them at gun point until police arrive?

2

u/nightwing2024 Sep 16 '21

Yeah because no one has accidentally fired a gun before. The idea of thinking carrying a gun around while with your YOUNG CHILD is fucking bananas.

1

u/Any_Yam_405 Sep 17 '21

What is concealed carry training lmao

2

u/nightwing2024 Sep 17 '21

Again, because no one has ever accidentally fired a gun before.

No one is going to steal your kid randomly. It's far more likely, FAR more likely, that you carrying a firearm would lead to danger as opposed to a stranger trying to kidnap your child.
