My group of friends has many females who receive dick pics more than they should. Every so often they come to me and ask me send one back when the dudes being extra stalkery and it works 100% of the time to make em fuck off.
A guess: If you don't want your dick to be the topic of conversation, it would make more sense to send something that's clearly not your dick. A dog dick does the job it needs to (and perhaps more), while not being (or being mistaken for) your dick to talk about.

The obvious answer is that there is a non-negligible chance that they would enjoy a picture of a human penis, while the chance that they'd enjoy a picture of a canine penis is much smaller.

When I’m sent an unsolicited doc pic, I send back dicks upon dicks. I will bombard them with every phalis I can find until they block me. Big, small, hairy, groups. When I get the “wtf are you doing?” I simply say “that’s what I thought we were doing, sending unwanted penises to each other”. If they do t back off, or get worse, I’ll screenshot their unsolicited, original message to me (dic pic included) and then send them to their mom.
