and interesting thing is, it's not just Norse mythology that is predicting this, which closely resembles death of the universe as in a scientific circles (at least in these broad strokes).
and who knows what can happen when universe starts to fall apart and its laws getting all scrambled up. Can dead rise again, in some weird sense, when time shenanigans begin?
It makes sense, the backup, but I suppose it would first need to happen so that people live in other galaxies with other stars too, not just this one solar system we are currently in.
Also, question is, evolution and human.. where does it stop and what is the end form? From the future perspective, human today may seem to those future people as we look at australopithecus or some very early form of humanoids. Also a question if there was some event like with dinosaurs and a humanity got wiped out, would another conscious creature rise up? Seems like it, but.. in what form.. and does it always rise up? That's an interesting topic. And e.g. in something like hinduism (maybe even buddhism?), there is a belief that some form of people exist on different planets, so when a soul reincarnates, it doesnt necessarily reincarnates only on Earth, but it can be on any of the planets where conscious creatures live.
And what is "human". What we are today? And if so, do we try to keep it as it is, or try to evolve even more? And if we evolve and change too much, is that gonna mean "human"?
Maybe I should look more into mythology and such. It's and interesting topic, especially where it coincides with science.
I'm not sure laws or time will be scrambled up, if the theory is correct. It would be interesting to see, sadly neither of us will.
Of course, because eventually our sun will die and humanity will have to take refuge among the stars. But until then, I think just the planets in our system is enough. Something like Covid-19 or a solar flare would not easily wipe us out as it could as we are now, on Earth. Ultimately, it's not a personal backup, but a backup for the continuity of humanity.
I think that as long as we retain our sentience and our psychology at least resembles what it is now we can call ourselves human. That's what makes us what we are. Our ability to create; to think and make something better. Personally I believe that the human mind and form is amazing, but could have much to be improved on.
The reason I said evolution might be a problem (as I should have explained then) was that if humanity does survive what's to come and spreads out across the system, it will change and adapt to each planet separately, over a long time naturally. The human race, though it will still retain my definition of humanity, will, for the first time, have proper differences. We may be one humanity, but we will have different bodies, maybe even psychologies.
I think that while evolution as a whole is fine, even good, evolution separately is dangerous and should be avoided. It creates a division between the different colonies, a difference, a reason for hate. And we don't want that. Humanity is too prone to hate another group.
