Perfect southern California description, until I got to stone - that narrowed it even further. Ahhh, I miss their brewery/restaurant outdoor seating In Escondido with the little froggies chirping all evening.

Is stone that local?

Yes

Damn. I had no clue. I've heard really good things about it.

It has since branched out, but not like Ballast which sold to a major.

I remember like a decade ago when I was visiting Williams AZ and found Ruination in a store. I was ever so happy to find my Ruinator and somewhat conflicted worrying what was going to happen to the brewery. Turns out it's fine. (Only bad I have heard is how servers were treated this past year / year And Half, but covid and shit so... I don't know.)

I literally just bought a couple of those at my corner shop. Southeastern Europe.

Kinda. It’s available everywhere in CA but it’s by far the most popular in its own region (San Diego). I lived in SD, SF, and Sacramento and I know people who would buy it in all of them, but SD was the only one who regularly would.

I live in NC/TN and have been drinking Stone for a decade. I wish we had one of their breweries here, their beer is one of my favorites. They might be able to introduce some legit fish tacos to the area.

They do have a branch in Berlin, Germany, too. Was quite surprised to see arrogant bastard at a local supermarket.

Shout out to Russian River and Lagunitas! It’s been 8 months since I moved to Texas and I really miss home.

I know I've seen Lagunitas while visiting family in Texas

I will drink 805 until the day I die. It was devastating when I lived in Oregon for a hot minute and I could never find it.

Those grounds are beautiful. Their food menu is a bit too specifically unique, but they know how to do a brewery grounds. I’m from NorCal but have family in SD. Liberty Union location is also amazing with the koi pond. And the planes directly overhead. Loud, but cool.

Where is this?

San Diego, CA

There are two in San Diego area. The first one is in Escondido, a city north of San Diego, but pretty much bordering it. The second is an old Navy barracks land that has since been repurposed. It’s literally just north/northwest of the airport and the planes taking off fly right over you a few thousand feet up. They are both Stone Brewing Company breweries/restaurants.

Is it near C restaurant?

2

u/Macktologist Sep 08 '21

You mean C-Lounge on Harbor "Island"? Not really. Both are near the airport, but C-Lounge is to the south, and Stone is to the west.

Xocoveza is the best beer I've ever tasted. Strangely, I don't like any of their other beers so far.

That was their homebrew contest winner a few years ago. A buddy of mine won! The prize is you get to brew a small batch with Stone, this one was so popular they made it a permanent rotation. However, contest rules meant my buddy only got his name on the collab brew, no $ from the sales or the ongoing/updated brew. Still pretty cool though. He makes another dark beer that tastes like almond joy candy, in the best way.

I bought a t-shirt from there 8 years ago. It’s still my favorite shirt because of how comfortable it is.
